People who are Newbies (like me) how do you log in on the game, Just the basics!

After you start the game you will have a small menu on the top right, just choose play and you will get to the server list. Make sure that you have selected Source: Internet and maybe press Get New List, if you can't see any servers. Then choose a server with a low ping and some players and join with a double-click.

I wonder why you worry about these two things first, because you usually make a lot of players angry at you when you use them unless you understand the game (and even then you might get flamed). You should worry about moving around, hitting things and buying a new shiny gun first.

A clan is not a feature of the game. It's a social thing. Talk to people.

You press the 'e' key.

You connect to a server like KoR and type "OMG CAN I BE IN CLAN?". They'll let you in.

Some server use a QVM with a "!register" feature. If this is a free-to-use feature just say !register in game. If not, then ask an admin to !register you.

1. Start Tremulous. Select one of the servers. Double click
2. You read the clans subsection of these forums and apply at the homepage of the clan that is mentioned in the clans thread
3. On some servers certain stuffed can't be deconned or you have to get a name to build/decon: Esc - Options - Name
4. Open console with the tilde key then type: /callvote poll "why am I a noob?"
5. You chat with y (teamchat) and t (general chat). Center Print is only available to admins/RCON users

There are games where you have to type "/login name password" or sth similar. For Tremulous its not the case.
You don't have a fix identity in game by default. Most players de facto have because they use the same name all the time.
If you want servers to know you whatever name you have, and that they can say its not you when somebody uses your name, you need a special "add on" a backportclient (search for it in the forum).  That will little program will "log you on" but it is by no means necessary to play.

wow... guess I'm about the only nice guy in this forum.
ok, you go to this site: http://trem.tjw.org/backport/ . Then you select your operating system (win32=windows). Rename your old tremulous.exe (in your tremulous folder) to trembak.exe. Then you download the NEW tremulous.exe, put it in your trem folder, and start up trem. Then you press the tilde key (as stated earlier). This opens up the console. Then you type in the following:
cl_allowdownload 1
cl_wwwdownload 1 (these two allow server downloads, so you don't have to manually download each map)
cl_guid (your GUID is your unique number, this command shows it).
cl_guidserveruniq (1? I'm not sure about that.) (this one makes your GUID unique to every server, if you want to become admin)
Now, join a server. If you want to register to that server, open up the console and do the !register command (note that not every server has one).

When you quit, you might notice your folders have changed. Now, the path where autodownloaded stuff gets safed is at C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous. Don't worry though, you can still save things like HUDs and stuff in your regular base folder. It's just the autodownload stuff that goes to this path.
