I want to play some hardcore rock for the people playing on my server to boost the adrenaline.  Is there a command I can use to do this?

Music can be added into maps by mappers, but trem can't directly stream music from a server
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

Anyway that would be quite stupid because it is very important to hear the sounds ingame to determine when your ennemy is badly wounded, or when someone you didn t see is near you (jetpack, marauder, dretch, etc...)

I've got quite a few smilies to show what I think of that idea but I'm sure you'll feel offensed if I posted them
urphy's rules of combat
8 ) Teamwork is essential; it gives the enemy someone else to shoot at.
18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

myusic in FPS games has always been a debated issue. In Deathmatch games some people do enjoy them for the adrenaline rush. Others, like myself, rely heavily on sound effects so a strong metal song will drown out that 'edge'.

Generally I've fine with atmospheric music as long as it's low key. If it's this huge sound clip that drowns out even a furious rocket battle...the mapper deserves a swift kick in the nuts.

Music would be tolerable if it were possible to turn it off.

Alien Arena is a good example of this.  At least one map has horrible, terrible, ear-gratingly bad music built into it.  It's not really a bad map, but the music is so terrible you don't even want to play it.  Ever.

Nexuiz, though, has done ok.  The music is relatively quiet and pleasant.  It makes good background music, and is easy to ignore if it isn't your sort of thing, although it in no way fits gameplay.

Of course, both of those are hyper arcade action adrenaline rush sort of games where gameplay moves along so fast your character doesn't make any sort of noise.

I need to be able to hear all them damn bugs chittering around, so I really think Tremulous is best off without music.

yeah, you'd need an option to turn it off. Or try and find a way to remove the lyrics from rock songs as they are what ruin a good backing track.

As a new stage is achieved or reactor/om is killed, a music theme sound  will fit the gameplay. imho,.
