[solved] wall/ceiling building
« on: August 12, 2008, 03:29:09 pm »
Hi,

I'm trying to customize QVM and I'd like to modify the settings so the Overmind can be built on walls and ceilings. I did it, but there's a problem now, the bbox is misplaced, there is a space between the OM and the surface it's built on. But, with draw_bbox, the bbox is as the building should be, it seems there's a problem with the object displaying. Can it be solved by modded settings with coordonates, or is it a client side issue ?

Edit :

I have made some tests, it seems that the OM is built on the same level than the furthest "object" on the surface you want to build on
On the screenshot below, perspective is broken with aliens, but you still can notice it. Moreover, it seems the OM is twice further than the cade.

We can notice whatever the surface is, the distance between the surface and the building is not the same. So I think coordonates are a bad clue, but, as I said, it's still built at the same level than the furthest object (on the first screenshot, it's the steel structure that carries the roof and on the second, it's the air conditionning vent), and the cade is twice closer from the surface.

Thanks for your help.

Edit : Solved. An admin can lock the topic ;D

chinny reckon it had something to do with where the model was anchored to the bbox - normally the bbox and model are both on the floor with the model being taller than the bbox. Since bboxen are not rotated the model was anchored to the relative top of the bbox when built upside down?
