it's big blue and fugly, in the same way windows XP was fisher price-ish, not necessarily lots of real estate eaten by the browser chrome.

Fugly is subjective, and calling it big when the theme from your preferred browser has an even bigger GUI is a bit weird, to say the least.

Wait till they release a full version of Chrome, (that was a beta right?) than we'll see what you think. But I do have to admit the interface is not perfect. I don't know if there is a browser with a better one, but room for improvement nonetheless.

True, that's nice. I sort of meant I don't really have an opinion on there being a browser with a nicer interface, poor choice of words on my part.

It's not. It's only the best theme for any browser ever.

Oh well, if you lack an argument that fits the discussion, just throw in a random argument!

I guess you are the only person in the world who did not have his whole browser crash with one page screwing up!

Congratulations.

[PS] Compare the Chrome default theme with the FireFox default theme and then come back and still call the Chrome default theme 'big'.
i guess you never tried to type :% in the url bar ;D (it's fixed now)

Have anyone even bothered to read the license agreement? I haven't but we had discussion at the bar and one guy had read it and discovered that the google gets all copyrights if you upload some texts you write with it. It wasn't really clear how but you should check it out if you are using Chrome.

that section got removed (but if you really care, just download and compile the source, you'll only be bound by the (l)gpl and the 2321084369157419 different permissive licenses used)

If you don't want to compile it yourself, you can download a Chrome clone without unique user ids and the other creepy things that Google may have hidden in Chrome: Iron.

Google collecting information about your search queries is fine, but once they start collecting data on your browsing habits, people get all riled up.

I have absolutely no problem when Google collects statistical data about the searches I do, but when the tie this to my unique user id this is a no-go for me. I know that most websites try the same with cookies, but I have at least some control over the cookies I accept or reject. Maybe I'm just too paranoid.

Google being a no-go for collecting data, while just about every company collects your data about just about everything you do, is just a case of double morale.

The thing is, your paranoia server no purpose, since data is already being collected, all the time, for years already. Paranoia about such things is merely fashionable, and certainly questionable.

Locks on doors do not keep criminals out of houses.
Most houses have ground-floor windows and most criminals have access to bricks.

Locks (or the assumption thereof) keep honest people away from temptation.

Also, Nine!

Doesn't help that I use a Mac, PPC nonetheless, so I probably won't have much user experience with Chrome to add to this discussion.
