Hi guys, this is the first time I enter this forum so I thought it would be a nice thing to greet all of you.

I'm just a newbie in Tremulous, but I was lucky: in the first map I entered I found a guy who teached me lot of things (thanks yay) and now I'm just a little less newbie

I'm italian so my english is not so good... if you don't understand what I'm saying please let me know.

Well.. let me say something about my first week of playing.
I do love aliens and I do love Dretch because it's fast, agile and deadly.
I tried to play many maps and I've been killed lot of time when facing tremulous veterans, but I found easy to kill other newbies with the Dretch.

I didn't like just one thing: the "if you can't defeat him, kick him" approach of one single guy.
I've been kicked out 2 times in 2 days by a player who said that "he wanted to kick me because I was too strong" (the first time) and that "he wanted to kick me because I was a cheater" the second time)
Cheater? Is it really possible to cheat in tremulous?  :eek:
How can this be possible in an open source game?
And, anyway, what it means "Dretch can't kill a man with an helmet so you are cheating"?

I was wondering if it was my fault (maybe I activated some cheat mode without noticing it.. pressing some special key) or if it was a simple matter of having to deal with a "newer than newbie" player.

By the way, I'll go on playing, running and jumping....

The one who kicked me wasn't and admin, anyway. He was just a simple player who called a vote. He was the only one who voted and voted yes. I didn't vote because I decided to wait and let other decide.
So this vote ended with 1 yes and 0 no... vote passed.

I think you happened to run into the "bad" kind of noob. I am a utter noob at this game and always gets accused of feeding the opposite team and all kinds of less friendly things are said to me.

I can understand most of it because I am totaly crap at the game and propably feeds the opposing team almost ten times more than I feed my own, so to say. But what should one do? I don´t like sitting around in the base safely and when I wander out I almost always get killed.

What I whould probably need is to team up with someone to die less but, you know how it is, people just run out fraggin' each other and little or no teamplay is existent. At least in the bad games.

Ah... rambling about my noobness and thread highacking.. well atleast it was the right thread to ramble in (I think)

Don't need to press any special key to kill a human with a helmet, just aim at their head, it does a decent amount of damage. They should be dead in 3-4 hits or so.

Anyway, that guy was just a jerk, and you should ignore him. You were not cheating, the ony way you could cheat would be to be on a server with devmap cheats on, and i dont believe any have them on.

What was said users name so we can look out for him.

Well... I tried to play on SATGNU and I've been killed maaaany times... now I'm sure I'm not a cheater  

I won't say the name of that player... let's see if he does it again. Maybe he'll learn how to play and he'll stop blaming other player for cheating... you know: everybody can do a stupid thing, the real problem is to go on doing it.  :wink:

Idiots like that are sadly somewhat common in public servers, although it all depends on the server admins.
