Yo Frankie! - playable blender engine game demo
« on: September 27, 2008, 08:24:26 pm »
some of you may have heard of the Yo Frankie! project. it's a game built in blender and designed to be exported to crystal space. recently they've also got it to work on blender's built in game engine. if you go to this page you can find the packages for the blender game engine, available for windows, linux and mac. i've played the game and it's ok, you guide a little rodent around a map, beat sheep and rats up and throw stuff around. nice little tech demo.

don't worry, i'm not going to make some noob suggestion that tremulous should be ported to run on the blender game engine, but it does strike me as a useful tool for someone like myself that wants to do ioquake3 mapping using blender. the ability to run around a map in a reasonably realistic manner would be a nice way to check out how the map while it's being made. i'm curious to see if i the mouse and keyboard could be set up to work in a standard "aim with the mouse, move with wasd" fashion.
