I have the same problem with my mouse. I can't point at certain points on textures without moving myself (my ingame persona). It's like my mouse is only snapping to certain points on a grid. Using higher dpi makes it even worse. A snipe weapon like the MD is unusable with that kind of wierd behaviour. Someone suggested it might be my mouse pad..?

I'm using a Logitech G5 right now and I love it but it's a bit more than $30. I have used the MX518 that Lava Croft mentioned and can vouch for its mad skillz.

This really is a great mouse.  Unfortunately, years of using a logitech trackball have just about ruined my ability to play games with a regular mouse.  With the trackball, your distance aiming will suffer, but your dretch wallwalking ability will go off the charts ;) since the thumb is more agile than the wrist. Plus, no more moving the mouse to reposition. Of course, my aim has always sucked, so maybe its not the trackball that causes that. :P I use it because with my job I use a mouse all day long, and my wrist was starting to hurt constantly.  That pain went away the day I bought a trackball.

If you are on a computer all day long, I'd recommend it.  If you mostly just game, I'd definitely take lava's suggestion.

Take any crappy old mousepad and cover the top with a sheet of plain writing paper, while using office tape to secure it to the bottom of the mousepad. You can replace the sheet of paper whenever it gets old, while it also has the added bonus of annoying hippies with your novel use of trees.

i use an A4tech X7 750F. as far as i searched its somewhat cheaper a bit. up to 2500dpi, you can vary your sensitivity ingame within a wide scale. unfortunately its one way change, so rifle->shotty is an easy 1 or 2 click to set, but to have a softer one to an MD requires multi clicks.
i don'T know if its triple shot function can be set to a useful feature in any game, but is comfortable to substitute double clicking at any applications.

I have one of these little devils. It's white, though, so it looks more like this.

Optimus' mouse sounds like a Eastern-European MX518 clone.

Oh, snap...

it can happen that if you're not sitting in the center of our little semi-continent's deepthroat HQ, you might actually have to be aware of something that is not hanging in front of the vacuum of your asshole.

That didn't make much sense.

else
    Syntac->post( 9337, "What?" );

I've been using the Razer Deathadder for almost a year now and I love it. Good mouse.

i'm going to agree with the mx518. i've had one for ages and it's great quality and virtually indestructable. highly recommended.

Razer makes decent mice too, only you really have to try one out before you buy it, since they have wacky ergonomic designs that at least make my hands cry out in agony after 15 minutes of use.
