Started by apollo, October 11, 2008, 08:35:02 PM

I've always wanted to, but somehow never get to. Probably cause I don't know how.
I'm on a Mac by the way
So heres my question (to all HUD-Makers)- how DOES one make an HUD?

If you have an answer, please do share it. If you don't- go to another topic please :-)

There are some guides there: http://www.rfactory.org/
You can also take a look at other huds .cfg files for examples.

So what? You think hud files for Tremulous are different on a Windows system?

Well... Yes accually.
The .CFG files are the same, but where they go is different for both mac and windows. And the files there dont load on a mac. I tried it.

That sir, is bullshit. The tremulous data files are platform independent, if you can EXPLAIN why it didn't work, I or someone else could help you.

For example:

In a guide, when they say "put the file in the folder"<--- thats pretty damn specific? no... THINK AGAIN.
In mac, we have like 4 folders, due to the extra patch so the app runs. You will notice that tremulous for windows is 101.4 MB, and for mac its like 110.3, those 8.9 MG are files that WINDOWS DONT NEED OR HAVE.

Hellrider

For your custom HUD(s) place your files (all the .menu and .cfg) in this folder: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Tremulous/base/ui/

The code (and files) you write for your HUD are platform independent. I suggest you read carefully to guides/advices next time expecially if your general computer knowledge is less than average.

Dante

Listen to Hellrider, he knows his shit.  I've been using his HUD for a little over a year now, and it's been quite helpful.
