my trem is broken! :(
« on: October 13, 2008, 04:27:36 pm »
i was playing last night and the computer froze up! so i shut down the game and restarted it and when i hit play nothing showed up on the server list (everything is set correctly, Source: internet, View full: yes, View Empty: yes) I immidietly checked my personal firewall settings to see if it was being blocked but it is not (also tried turning the firewall off and no dice) So my next logical step was to uninstall and re-install but also to no avail (server list still empty) i have done this several times and i just cant get a list of servers :( I know that all off my internet stuff is working properly so i guess im just done with trem unless someone know how to fix this! (crosses fingers)

computer is as follows-
Windows Vista 32 bit OS
AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core processor
4 gigs Corsair Gaming memory
PNY Geforce 8800 gt graphics card
BFG 550 watt Psu
network connection: DSL

if anyone else has experienced this problem and has a fix for it please let me know!!!

Try getting a new list and pay attention to the bottom where it says "Looking for x servers".  If it says "-1", then try the fix below.  I've had this problem periodically myself.

1. Get to the Command Prompt through the Start Menu.
2. ipconfig /flushdns
3. Try looking for servers again.

I'm not to sure with vista...
but

Check your program data for your personalized settings tremulous folder and post the log it has inside it.

(too used to linux and XP to know where it is in vista but i think such stuff was migrated into the program data folder, you will have to unhide hidden folders too)

Also on another keynote, turning off your firewall though the application can sometimes really not turn it off, some apps have kernel mode modules that are loaded in regardless till you disable its services in msconfig.

Might want to check eventviewer as well go to start, in the search bar type in eventvwr and to go applications just after you ran it to see if it sees a connection being refused.

Roco, I have some advice for you.

1) Check when a thread was last posted in. This has been dead for almost a year. Posting in long-dead threads is called "Thread Necromancy" or "Necroing" and makes everyone want to stab you in the face.
2) When a solution doesn't work, it isn't the right one.
3) Avoid smiley spam.
4) STFW (Search the fucking web)
4a) Do a little research and try more than one thing.
4b) Use a little common sense when posting, and try following any links found in a thread for your answer
5) In the future, don't put your clan tag in your forum name, clans are prone to die, and you're getting yourself stuck with a tag you may come to hate.

As for this thread, did you check the advice about the firewall thing. Can you access master.tremulous.net in a web browser?

If you can't, it's likely a firewall issue.
