Hello Everyone,

Time and time again I have seen deconners ruin games. No one wants to play on a server where their base will just be destroyed by a "teammate". I am proposing to make a mod that will allow a new vote to be called... Kick IP. It may sound extreme but if your IP is kicked you will not be allowed back on for a set amount of time, say 2 hours. That way, if you were kicked unfairly, you could just join another server, but if you were kicked for a reason, after deconning on others servers you could get IP kicked again. I think if this works it should be included in the next release, please leave your comments and/or opinions, and I will post here when the mods site is released.

yeah, but the 'if you're innocent you can just go play somewhere else' isn't really a good solution. any form of long term ban should only really be done by admins.

The problem is is that you can just change your name and you dont get banned.

I know that finding a new server is harsh, but wouldnt you rather risk that than have deconners?

Oh yeah, I'm starting work on it, but suggestions are very welcome lol :D .

That would be like giving a mob a large thermonuclear device.  :eek:

The way votes go a lot of the time it doesn't even matter if you do anything wrong, people kick you for "hacking," lagging, deconning, dying, killing, not dying, not killing, team killing, saying mean things, not speaking French :x, and a lot more random things than that (they're all real by the way).

If there is an IP ban on deconners it should come from an impartial admin, not a bunch of crazys running around shooting at each other.  Too many people just hit f1 reflexively a thing like Vote: Ban IP to be good for the game.

Theres already guid kick/banning available for admins and/or trusted players on certain servers. While one could change their id pretty easily (I dunno how offhand, if it's as simple as reconnecting or deleting the qkey file) its just as easy to change your ip (for some connections at least).

Personally I find AKKA has the best anti-lamer setup... it's not perfect but between the admins / auto kick/ban for damaging your buildings / short ban after kicking and no name changing while being subject to a vote I'd have to say thats as good as it's going to get.

Auto-kick for building damage has gotten me a little miffed on AKKA. I was shooting past a tesla with a pulse rifle at a goon way down the tunnel (MEEPS), but I aimed a little too far to the right and the shots apparently hit the tesla's hitbox (thought they looked like they wouldn't), and given the pulse rifle's projectile speed an entire clip was already heading into the tesla before the first one even hit and tipped me off that I was gonna hit it. POOF, kick.

I see what you mean about the whole mob and thermonuclear... w/e. But really, if you get kicked from like 4 or 5 servers, you are doing something wrong. Getting kicked from 1 really isnt that big a deal. And as for changing IP... that didnt realyl occur to me lol.

I was just browsing through the other forums and I saw that Stage 3 thread. It caught my attention, maybe I should add something like that into my mod? Give me you opinion, because its probably better than mine.

Oh and guys, kick IP mod is not a good name  :D . If anyone can come up with a name just post it, ok?

This no longer works on most servers and won't work in the next release as the vote kicks are handled by clientNum instead of name.

Lol danny, maybe I'll use that. Maybe just kickmod. BTW guys, dont hold your breath for this, it could (and will) take a while. And do you think I should make it so you get some Creds/Evo points for starting late?

I think the best way is to have the clientnumber kicking show the name of the client being kicked, including color of name, etc. Then we won't get basekilling assholes who'll change their name to mimic someone else's, then call a clientnumber vote to kick the person who just tried to kick them. Some asshole named "Dad" did that on the server I was playing on.
