as i stucked a bit when trying to make concept art for the battlesuit, i realised that if i want to create an in-depht concept art, i need the concept first, then the art.
the hand of the battlesuit suggested that its actually a "'weapon nest" where any device can be attached from ckit to lcannon.

so, i started to think how to make every weapon fit into it. something common was needed, and then i realised that what if every gun (and the ckit) would have the same base: the blaster.
at this futuristic environment, where (considering the gameplay elements) teleporting (recreating crew, gear transport, structures) is the key element, this would save a fair amount of energy, so it sounded quite logical.
as the blaster cant be used together with other devices, there should be an instant transform option also to release its original firing "head", what is otherwise only a triggering mechanism/energy dose to get every other device functioning (note: malfunctioning in the case of flamers and old lucifer models just adds to the reality feeling).

on the design part, i also searched for a form what could be the main motive of most of the stuffs. i chose the one i like the most, the head of the battlesuit, so most of the things will remind to it.

nahh, here is the blaster so far. it may vary as i will go on with the attachments.

can be transformed back into a box. saves space.

Wow, they look really nice. Good work!  :police:

The design reminds me of an alien influence...nice drawings!

You've got some real talent there! ;D Hope to see more on this.

there appears to be a camera lense in the barrel.

thnx for everyone for support.

lens or hole... well, i drew some white spots on it what makes it looking like a lens. truly i didn't really decided it yet. for me, blaster shot is seeming like some concentrated energy, but considering its speed it shouldn't be light. maybe it should be something like plasma energy what can travel with less speed, such as... eeer... "ball lightening". i don't really know enough about these physical stuffs :-)
the main purpose of the blaster, as a triggering part of guns, should deliver just enough energy to shoot pellets, bullets, or to get some energy transformer started. i'm not sure if some kind of "lens" would do much about its intensity in front of the barrel, besides keeping it safe from dust and alien slime :-)

Very nice work Opti! You make me wish I had more time for this trem stuff :< I'll try to free up next weekend so I can work on that project and maybe ask for your opinion on a few things.

Lava Croft

I don't exactly see how that suitcase transforms into that Blaster, but nice drawing nontheless.

It's not a suitcase. It's a box slightly smaller than the blaster.

You pull the tag on the edge of the box and this pulls the inner and outer parts of the box along each other like a telescope, allowing room for the grip to swing out into position. Pressumably pushing the tag back in has the reverse effect.

Unless I'm wrong of course ;) That's just how I saw it.

That, coming from Lava, is somehow like "You're a hero and I love you" xD

Now seriusly, great job. It's for things lke this that I love this subforum ^^

wow, smart design and great drawings! No doubt - the same style as b-suit you made, keep on good work :)

tho... i don't rly can imagine the whole process of transforming from box to gun, maybe 4 frame animation will do? i found this pretty sweet easy-to-use, free traditional animation program - Pencil -was made on Mac, works on others OS, but not perfectly.

Once again great job! Hope to see full gallery of your masterpieces oneday ;D

thanx for introducing Pencil, i may check it out, but if the animation will ever happen to these stuffs, it will be some kind of redrawing of a 3D model of this weapon.

it's quite hard to imagine the animation at 2D, its even hard to draw symmetric or logical stuffs. so i can't avoid modeling from a point.

but... khm... in this particular case, i can exactly explain how this blaster transforms into box shape:

ammmmmm, a sound?... ok i think it gave me the picture :P
about using 2d animation, any 2d animation: i think you can show the whole process using side view. You can avoid modeling... though it might be a problem the more complicated structures will grow

Of course! It's all so obvious now!

If you like I could try my hand at animating it. I'll just add it to that list of stuff I need to do.. >.>

+ OPTIMUS +

at first it has to be able to accept every kind of attachment. so it will probably change a lot. but you can always try it ;-)
and did you see the tablet concept on the other thread (the ceerra guys drawings)? very cool.

I really like how the barrel looks like the eye-piece from the battlesuit.

Was that intentional, or coincidence.

After a quick bit of colouring...

+ OPTIMUS +

hey, i really like the coloring on the front, and the slight whitening on the side!
tough i guess a concept like this would need more "brave" coloring, probably even vectors. i'm not sure cause i tried coloring for a bit and i failed :-)

btw i found Alchemy on the deviant site of the concept-artist guy on the other thread what is a lot of fun!!! it brought me into a new perspective of making trem comic and doing further concepts! try it asap. NO undo or eraser :-) :-O

HOW DID U 3D MODELD DAT? ;-)

<3

EDIT: @Usa, note that this device has a secondary trigger for blast/anythingelse switch. also a /kill button. and some other trigger possibilities for the other dozen weapon it could be attached to. can't be always easy :-)
