Wallwalking Speed

hey folks...

When I am a dretch, normally, it nausiates me trying to maintain some semblance of location while wallwalking. It's all luck whether I succeed or not; whether or not I landed in a good place.

I found a cool option in the OPTIONS menu, though...Wallwalking speed. It alters the speed at which you change direction when you start walking on another surface. I set it from MEDIUM to SLOW...

While now I can't change directions quite as fast (so I don't recommend this for pros), now I actually keep my bearings when fighting. I ran through a human base for quite awhile (with support, of course). I didn't die until getting about 3 kills...even then, it was the reactor that got me.

While they weren't all focused on me, it showed that I was able to play effectively. I hopped down, bit a human, and when he opened up, I was already gone along the walls. Pros may even turn this setting to SLOW on maps with lots of pipes, uneven walls, etc...

I HIGHLY recommend this for all who are not gods with the dretch.

I tried it out a while back, but I quickly switched it back. I reccomend keeping it back on medium for beginners, it teaches you to keep your feet with the mass camera rotation and hopping walls and such. If you really have trouble with it, however, this idea is very wise.

Good post, I never thought of telling others this.

Actually , I found it harder with slow (so far I played with fast) , but instant view change reduces induced nausea for me. Still , it would be good to have an option to remove the view change altogether (like in NS , where wall walking is far easier :P)

Remove automatic view change? I think it's \cg_wwFollow 0 or you can find it in the options screen right next to wallwalking speed setting.
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
1.2.0 release's been delayed for 5:48:00 already because of stupid questions.

cg_wwFollow 0 is great! thanks!
now if it just would effect strafing view changes...

Another thing when it comes to wallwalking.
Rely on your senses. I barely pay attention to the screen, simply getting around with the radar and map knowledge. Whn attacking hummies, stay away from red dots and go for the blue (quite obvious). If you pay attention to what you see without the sensors, you'll go to the bathroom and puke twice evey match. Ain't a good thing.
Yelling at team mates since 2006!
