AA is about as good as you get in Tremulous, although NT server may be coming back strong.

What about PT?

...although it's empty most of the time, at least when I see it.

Not to mention all the servers are messed X,A,AA,FUN,TremX,etc. all have mods or messed qvms. the only normal server in existence are the 1.1 servers and dretchstorm.
Not true. The skittles server is only one you missed. There are plenty of pure servers, but unfortunately too many modded ones.

Do you mean skittles is normal? It certainly isn't...

Blasters deal 50 dmg after SD. If that is normal something is seriously wrong.

As compared to standard-gameplay Tremulous, Skittles is not normal. EOD.

Meh, it seemed a bit obvious you know, don't you think?  ;)

Well, its servers like these most people go to anyways, whether its un-balanced or not. Thats kinda the sad thing, people prefer to go to servers the screws with Tremulous' gameplay rather then playing the way the developers intended to.  :(

I don't know. To me that's like saying "it's a shame everyone enjoys playing Tremulous instead of Quake3 like ID intended." But yeah, I realize it's kinda different than that, but where do you draw the line?

You draw the line where people start thinking Tremulous was intended to be like that.

Well, it is open source, it has been awhile since any "official" update, proper clients are not hosted on the main site, and n00bs are pretty much told to figure it out or sod off. People are bound to start mucking about with it whilst awaiting an "official" update, while other people will just mod the hell out of anything they can mess around with, and meanwhile the player base will try anything new just for a little change of pace.

When people feel like they are kept out of the loop of what is going on, even when they are trying to be loyal to a game and show their support, they will sometimes get distracted and either warp the game into entirely something else altogether, or just go off and find some new shiny object to play with.

Human nature to mess stuff up or lose interest in it. Especially when they often feel they are being kept at arm's length. Just sayin'.

Cheers.

Or rather, leave that aspect, and take it a step further by making it so crouching with a helmet doesn't funlily the helmet's protective ability.

If you root, it's a tradeoff: You're giving up the ability to dodge and oftentimes making it more difficult to aim (ie: if an alien is close and circling; above you), in exchange for a moderate boost to your armor.  Granted, better players usually find it more advantageous to dodge and avoid taking any damage rather than rooting and acepting that they'll at least take a swipe, but I see no reason to remove rooting from the game.  Especially since it's an important balance feature for s1 humans vs. goons.

Noone really crouches with a chain to reduce its kick as it is, because an s1 chain is just suicide and at s2 if you crouch with your helmet you are, yet again, committing suicide.  I think that needs to be fixed.

i think part of the reason that tremulous is dieing is because its to hard for a newbie to kill a pro. Some of the funnest games are the ones where almost eve one is equal. In moats first person shooter games if you are in the right place at the right times you can get a kill. But in tremulous even if you are able to get behind the enemy without it noticing you its still hard to get a kill (at least when you are beginning). This makes learning the game really hard. I remember reading through the manual to try to find how to attack with a dretch. Touch a human to attack it. I tried doing that but i would get shot down as soon as i reached the human. then in the rare advent i would get enough evolves to get something nice i would be gunned down by someone better then me. In a really fun game a newbie can kill a pro. The problem is thee are aliens that the weakest weapon cant kill in under 1 minuet. This makes it impossible for anyone to get into the game. the only reason i kept playing was because my friend told me how to and explained to me the things that i couldn't figure out. selling my weapon etc.  I think the only way that we will be able to get more players in tremulous is to make the pros and newbies more equal. i dont know how but i believe it must be done to save tremulous. Woot first post on a remote desktop!

Whew. Just played a game on Dretch Storm. Reminds me of SST, back in the day. It was great fun. Rampage added some insane fun factor to the game. It was just me, another adv. basi, and a dretch hiding in a vent, waiting for annihilation. Great fun. Easily one of the best (mostly) vanilla trem servers left.

I dont get sick of trem, but i do get sick of the same maps over and over. Hence why ive started making maps. Also, better game modes would be better (ie Capture the flag, Assault wouold be awesome IMO)

I'm sick of ATCS.

Seriously.

Really.

Totally.

It's more overplayed than Blood Gulch in the Halo demo version.

But, I suppose I'm glad that not every server is running a different custom map. That really bugged the shit out of me in Halo CE.

You can't kill Tremulous
Trem will live on

Combat Arms tried to kill Tremulous
But they failed as they were smited to the ground

Battlefield Heroes tried to kill Tremulous
But they failed as they were stricken down to the ground

Counter Strike Online tried to kill Tremulous
Hahahahaha they failed as they were thrown to the ground

(Screaming) Aiieee Aiieee

(Harmonizing)
No one can destroy Tremulous
Trem will strike you down with a vicious blow
We are the vanquished foes of Tremulous
We tried to win for why we do not know

Warrock tried to destroy Tremulous
But Tremulous had its way
Combat Arms then tried to dethrone Tremulous
But Tremulous was in the way
Counter Strike Online tried to destroy Tremulous
But Trem was much too strong
BattleField Heroes tried to defile Tremulous
But BattleField Heroes was proven wrong
Yeah!

Tremulous!
It comes from hell

Tremulous is a beating heart in the new era of FPS action. Utilizing old technology compatibale with older hardware but delivering a fun, co-operative and creative experience like no other compared to today's shooters. Tremulous v1.2 will show that Q3 still has balls of blobs, and best of all, Tremulous just ran out of gum. Long live the Granger, campers.

The one thing I hate about the balance changes on MGDev is that they actually make the learning curve steeper. and the steep learning curve in 1.1 is a bigger problem than balance. (Although balance is still a problem, don't get me wrong.)
