Servers can pause name changing during votes, but he doesn't frequent those. And I've played with a guy named treeSkwrall before, he played fine, might be an imposter. Until there is a GUID in place, you can't ban based on name, it could be anybody.

But yeah, he's ruined maybe half the games I've played in today.

You capslock key needs to be checked...
If an admin is present on db@ griefers will get kicked / banned. Usually not by name, as there can be imposters, but by deed.

We got a deconner today in a game. Managed to kick then rebuild node and reactor he deconned (had to build it twice, cause we had it up on the ledge outside in Karith, so the first time on the ground to get our builder to jetpack up there, then again up top), but we missed the armo before SD, so we ended up drawing because they knocked out our armo down at the bottom (TJW's server, many bp)

That was an imposter. I've seen stderr around a lot, and he/she is legit.

And as for banning deconners on sight... Assuming it's done by name or IP, it's feasible if the bans only stay in place short-term; an hour or a day or something. If names get banned permanently for deconning, deconners can get decent people banned

Yesterday we got an "UnnamedPlayer" who people thought was just new, and then thought was just new and stupid, and then thought was new and retarded, but he was a deconner. He ruined the BG server for a while.

We really need, more than anything, some protections against this crap by the next version.
