These may not be REALLY simple but they are easy enough to not be OVERLY difficult to the equivilent of makeing the game about unicorns and space ships. (I took ideas from halo3 by the way)

1 I have said this before and I will say this again, advertising.  We don't need to spend money, just spread the word. (or mod db can handle it)

2 Differant skins. Like the differant types of camo that B166ER made, simply put an option in the esc options menu (maybe show a model of what you will look like with the skin on) and make it seeable to the public if the server allows (to avoid camouflage if needed and more downloads).   This would include skins that you have just downloaded too as well as at least two defaults.

3 Stats/ranks on the tremulous website.  This would recquire the servers to cooperate with the Dev team a lot, but it would be cool if you could have a lot of server stats and then show the totall stats at the bottom like Dretch Storm does or used to do.

4 Don't be an asshole. Be nice to our newer members don't flame them if they ask something that is in the manual or because you think that every one should be able to know how to mod the game, make new textures and make a map.

5 HUD toggle.  Have the ability in the esc menu to toggle through HUDs that you have downloaded or that came as default.  (include at least 3 as default)

6 More default maps. These don't have to be necessarily totally new maps just some ones that have allready made that are not allready default.  (include at least 10-16)

7 Friends.  Now this would be easier to just go with steam and do it from there but I think steam should be a last resort.

8 Easier server search/fave so you don't have to type in the IP.

9 Initial http download from the start. So they don't get confused with downloading new maps and say that tremulous now sucks.

10 Gamer of the week/ month (not needed as much)  in the stats a person who has gone up by allot of points or donated allot.

11 Pict of the week/ month (not needed as much) in the front page shows a amazing picture some one has submitted.

12 Have a few people (NOT DEV TEAM MEMBERS) in charge of the forum management and front page if this is not allready the case.

Nice. that mite atract more people to join. and the maps and skins and huds is a great idea man. :) actually i dont play this game as much now because its kind of disbalanced. anyway good post!!!

Indeed. We trem-lovers should try to make a conscious effort to popularise it .  For example, one can set the tremulous.net  url in one's IM ; refer it to other gamers we comes across;  perhaps even mention it on other forums one visits etc.

Although, most servers carry some sort of statistics on their homepage and there are some available from the trem master server , it is all scattered and generates little interest. Something that's compended in a simple manner would be useful but it would require collaboration from the servers.

Probably the most important aspect. Much of the impression one generates about a game is determined by interaction with its community (especially true for multiplayer online games) ; and not only in forums but in game as well.  We need to be more open to newcomers and willing to help or direct them.

Also:
I'm not aware if the 1.2 has the GUID feature by default but if not it should definitely be included.  Lots of new players have trouble understanding and installing the backport and many of them would not even ask/look for help online (forums etc. ).

#1 is as much up to you guys as us
#2 is something I'd like to see a bit more of, and with the skins being so easily made optional even within purecheck, it's a shame that we don't have more. I'm only aware of ~3-5 pk3s with alternate skins for anything. If you guys start making more of them and they look good + aren't using super-bright colors designed to give you an advantage, I know that we, for one, would allow and enjoy them on Puretrem and I expect that other servers would as well.
#3 not only requires the infrastructure to submit all the data, but because servers run very different settings (to say nothing of modifications that go far beyond changing included cvars), stats across servers are basically incomparable and this can't work.
#7-8 are already done by tons of players outside of the included server browser. Use qtracker, kquery, qstat, or a variety of other external programs that can handle this more conveniently than an internal browser ever can/will/should
#9 is actually rather difficult for security reasons as has been discussed in multiple topics. So far nobody has presented a foolproof proposition, much less implemented one.
#12 is Khalsa. Specifying "not dev team members" is an oxymoron, because when someone is put in charge of these things, he/she becomes a member of the dev team.

An improvement that I think is likely to happen but it's not really what snb has asked for either.
