Mac Server Problem

I am running tremulous on a mac, and when I first installed it, Tremulous worked fine.  I could click create server and start a game by myself.  However, my friend couldn't find my server, so I looked up the instructions on how to create a server with a mac.  The directions seemed to work up until the last two steps, where I got a "read-only" error for the second to last step and then a "No such directory" error for the last step.  I found several suggestions on the forum for how to fix these problems but none of them seem to work.  Also, now I cannot even create a game for myself.  Instead I get the error "SV_BotFreeClient bad clientNum: 33551196".  I thought maybe the server set-up had messed with the files for the game, so I reinstalled, but I am still having the same problem.  Are there any suggestions on how to at least fix the "SV_BotFreeClient bad clientNum: 33551196" error?

I've seen that mentioned before, and I'm sorry, but I am not sure what that is or what I can do about it.  A little more detail would be appreciated.

Usually, QVM refers to the game.qvm file you stuck in (I assume) ~/Application Support/Tremulous/base/vm. This file controls a lot of the gameplay, including bots. Yours is most likely messed up or incompatible in some way. The easiest way of fixing this is by rolling your own; that is, downloading the Tremulous source code, applying what we call a "backport" patch (something that makes the QVM work with older clients/servers) and as many others as you need, and finally compiling.

I have a guide floating around here somewhere. I'll dig it up for you if you like.

That would be great. Thanks!

Okay, here. http://tremulous.net/forum/index.php?topic=8975.0

It's very general, but you'll probably find at least some of it helpful.
