I'v seen it few times. Last time was worst ever :/
I'm in alien team, 4 kills to stage 2. i kill 2 humans and die, respawn, look at tab and 3 kills to stage 2 :/, I kill 6 more and 1 kill do stare 2. WTF????
and then I realized that server compensates for player count. Every time new alien connected server added needed kills to next stage, when people disconnected nothing happened. So it was 4 kills till stage 2 for a good 10 minutes (humans got s3 in the mean time).

I was in that game. How frustrating ! We had the upper hand , but were unfairly limited to stage 1 while humans went from shotguns to pulse to battlesuits.

The stage system definitely needs a revamp... but it would be good if the prerequisite weren't a plain kill count. Some objectives would make things more interesting...

no, its fine, it only needs this bug fixed = server should subtrack kills back if someone joins aliens. I have no idea if its aliens or particular server specific bug.

No, it happens to humans too.

This is fixed already on some servers, but the WORST thing is when someone joins a game that is almost balanced, say it is 3 vs 4... they are forced to the alien team to make it 4 vs 4 and the required kill count goes up from 12 per stage to 16 per stage for the aliens.

Then they swap teams without making any kills. What this does is leaves an outnumbered team of alien players with an extra 8 kills in their quota to make up. Of course, the sort of players that do this are also the sort that will feed the humans a few dretches before swapping teams. It's just another thing in tremulous where one idiot can wander in late and wreck the fun of seven other people, intentionally or otherwise.

Of course, depending when they swap, they can also screw up the other team's kill quota by joining them.
