@Player1:
Damn, I already worked on this nice post to be Prime and it'll be hard for it to go to waste. :P
Oh well, Prime could have a funny, dark side too, can't he?

Also, question. Can we have it so sometimes that other players can post their contributions to the RP as E-mails to one another? It could be used as plot devices or as personal journals so the characters could say whats going through their minds. I got this idea from reminiscing elements from playing Doom 3 on My Xbox, and I'm wondering if it could fit in an RP topic.

Anyways, I'm new to this business, so please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong, cheers.

Just to clarify, the team have all landed @ roughly the same area on the planetoid, correct? Also, "Where the fuck are we?" I suppose we'll design the planet as we go, as I haven't seen a description for it.

@Plague Bringer: I left it completely open-ended, but I'll recap a few of the details so far tossed in: it's nearby Sirius and Firststar systems, even though it took nine jumps through the hyparxial void to get there (and the Guilderguides seemed to have truoble finding it); Jed and Ned are veterans of meta-temporal campaigns; neither Slim, who was not only a Guilderguide, but also a Jumping Double-Freak, nor TNW, a drone with over a century of field experience, seem to think that the system is even on the star-charts.

But to provide a small bit of background. The star is actually a small solarity quite near Wolf 359, a very large object as brown dwarfs go, and a pretty puny object as far as run-of-the-mill M-class red dwarfs go: a paltry example of the most common type of star in the Settled Vectors and Volumes. It not as if it were very exciting, but still, it shouldn't have gone overlooked for two millenia, mere el-wyes away from Humanity's Alleged Cradle-Star. And then one day in the late Forty-teens of the Interglobal Common Era, it was silently catalogued, as if it had appeared from nowhere; quietly added to the list of places to driver-mine worldlets, pellucidarize planetoids, and manufacture the type of things you can't make or sell in the more snooty sections of the Pink Corridor. Some wag on Varuna dubbed it Al-Minak, the One that Somehow Escaped Notice. There were of course, the usual kooks and crazies who insisted it was Providence's Plan or Something Far More Sinister, but until the time of our mission, the small swarm of planetoids and asterisms haunting the cometary cloud of this darkened babystar has gone relatively unexplored and almost completely overlooked. Except, of course, but an ancient, arcane, soul-shocking horror, a few desperate smugglers and privateers, and a certain zaibatsu infamous for (allegedly) destroying the very cosmic fabric of the Omniverse itself (albeit on a picoparticular level). Strange that our travelers should find a fairly-habitable worldlet within its tiny habitable zone, but many things about this mission are somewhat inexplicable to the mind too willing to jump to quick conclusions.

@Hendrich: Awesome job. You are Prime. That still leaves Jed & Ned, and Shin, available for play. Yes, we should have all kinds of other documents, padpod transcripts, Brindipedia articles, memos, job applications (good job, you got the part!), quotes from famous Duplicants, excerpts from An Astragator's Guide to the NV&V, and etc.

Bissig

Could all the star systems, abbrevations and common terms maybe compiled into a wiki style page or some form of readable document? It is already that much that I have trouble following this RP aswell as The Story.

@Bissig: I'll make you a deal. If you start a casual running list, just as you come across them, or when you remember them, I'll be happy to turn that document (eventually) into a lexicon/glossary/wiki/FAQ/manual of the Q: TJ: TFZI world. A lot of it is used for local color, and hopefully doesn't distract from the gist of the story (that Ked Ambrit blew up the First Colonists of Fractal Zion, as well as his escorting force of Merc Militiamen, in order to save Haos Redro interests in the neighboring Brindus Cluster).

Cheers!

P.S. Danke schön, I liked geist because it is so ambiguous in English (is it a ghost? a spirit? an alien intelligence? is it localized in one body or several?), but I will definitely make use of the quick Zulu lesson in the Mother Tongue of my people's forefather's.

@Archangel: For an idea of what Merfolk women might look like, look here. Also, it's quite possible that Simmer is some sort of a merman, either in disquise, or using a reverse-engineered Old FolkTM retroclone. I think he is a spy, from the Unvanquished megaclan, who has infiltrated Haos Redro's Inner Corporate Council for Intrazaibatsu Initiatives, the ICCII. Perhaps he has been found out, which is why he was sent on this crappy mission. Or maybe it is part of his master plan, to find out more about the Aliens new battle-classes and builder-species. Either way, he's operating under deep cover. So deep, he's really not even sure who he is working for or loyal to anymore.

For more on the Unvanquished, see here and here.

Archangel

@player1: I'm getting all tingly insid- wait, that's just the jizzing of the pants. Nevermind...

But I am excited!

Just want to point out that there are two spaces left for those that are interested: Shin (the young woman) and Jed & Ned.

I want to get the Übergeist as a sort of omnipotent figure at the moment. It will make a more direct appearance later on, but it wants to play with the minds of the pinkskins for a while.

Also, as to the "And fuck that Terrible North Wind" statement, I have plans. And trust me, they're good plans ;)

Brindus?

Yea, lets keep it to Brindus. I decided to use a random ending like .br, but if it has to make sense, sure.

Syntac

Kaleo: Ain't that three spaces? (Unless Jed and Ned are a composite entity.)

They could be played separately, if three more players wanted to join, or together, if someone wants to take on that task. Either way. We need to have a couple more players, but if someone doesn't join within the next day or so, I will write Jed & Ned and Shin, just to keep the game moving along. Everybody but the drone is pretty much planetside now (as far as we know), so it's just about time for Scene 2 of Act I. Just waiting to see if we are going to have anyone else join. Moving on in 3-2-1...

P.S. Considering all the evil designs you all have towards the drone, perhaps I should play more than one character.

Hendrich

If you don't mind Mr.1, I would love to take Jed and Ned, and you can take Shin. They seem like the perfect pair of characters to mold them into total assholes, besides, I always wanted to spell Zesus like this.

Lets give it a bit more time, just in case we have late party crashers wanting to play.

I suggested "Das Überbewußtsein" yesterday. What also came to mind after I shut off my PC (typical - isn't it?) was "Meta-Bewußtsein". Which means Meta-Consciousness. But, even for me it is difficult to really figure out what fits "Overmind" best in german. I still like the first one best:

"Das Überbewußtsein wurde sich der Menschen gewahr. Eine, wie es spürte, gefährliche Rasse von hochentwickelten Affen."

"The Overmind became conscious of the presence of the humans. It sensed danger from that breed of highly evolved apes."

Kaleo

I actually am enjoying the whole one or two word orders that the Übergeist is sending out to it's Overminds.

The story will get to be the Tremulous we know when the thought is sent:

"Kill."

So where exactly are they on this planetoid?

Who's with who on the surface, and how far away from each other are they?

I know that Jane is a fair bit away from the others, but she has her beacon on, so TWN should be able to track her down.

But what about Simmer, Shin and the rest of them?

Yes, its confusing, I had trouble following the story so I took bits I understood and got that.

Okay, so heres the rundown:

-Characters on Dropshit Dropship
-Deployed/launched/exploded/whatever from Dropship on a planetoid
-Characters now are on planetoid
-Characters venturing to far side of planetoid to await furthur orders from Simmer

So, before we go into to what Kaleo asked, should all the characters be separated from groups then reunite, or should they just cluster near each other and move on?

Kaleo

Well, I thought since TWN has the dropshitp, maybe he could pick them all up.

They do have beacons in their pods, after all.

I guess, so TNW can go on a willy adventure trying to pick up everyone while everyone else tries to survive the conditions of the planetoid?

Kaleo

Man, when this is all done, I am so writing a script.

Hendrich (gj!) wrote the drone down, since he mentioned the burritos, so I just went with that. I figured since Slim and Gunny were somewhat "together" (in time of entering replies), they became sort of a story-within-the-story. Since I figured Kaleo would show up again, I wrote Jane back in, but then I needed characters to have taken Prime's breakfast. Who better than Slim, and since it was plural, Gunny, since I was pretty sure Syntac and Plague Bringer would return. Since we still don't have players for the other 2 or 3 characters (depending on how you want to play Jed & Ned), it was convenient to have them be the "missing" part of the party, thus we have our current conflict: Where the fuck is everybody?

In the excitement of everyone finding the wreckage of our dropboat and roasting birds, Simmer seems to have wandered off. The guy with our orders. The ones that only he can open. And then, only if and when the time is right. Now Slim has found the remains of another dropboat, and there's some noise coming from the bushes (thank you Syntac, and Plague Bringer, respectively, iirc).

We're still looking for the missing members of the team: Ned, Jed & Shin, and now, apparently, Simmer, too.

While I turn around slowly, to see what is coming from out of the bushes, I am also going to anticipate our next course of action, which I expect to be announced soon by my team leader...

+1's for everybody, not only are we now solidly into Scene 2 (maybe 3) of Act I, we are about to enter the dark and mysterious Act II (where evil and chaos reign). Beware the scene and cue the blue mood light, as the orchestra returns to the theme, then transposes it down to Db-minor. Things are about to take a considerable turn for the worse, my friends. It's time to: MAKE THE HERO HURT (the hero is your character).

Good luck. Those who survive may yet live to see Act III.

bwahahahah.... heh... *cough

Kaleo

Hmm...

Abandoned undergound Haos Redro complex?

Maybe...

I'm going to make a map of this abandoned HR complex.

I'm also going to work a HR logo. Something a bit like Weyland-Yutani's (look it up) logo.

DAS Meta-Bewußtsein. Meta is only a sort of "qualifier" so "Bewußtsein" still stays neutral -> DAS.

@Bissig: Duly noted. See change and notation. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. It's the small details that make it all seem complete.

By the way, was there a specific question that you had about the back story, the terminology or a particular star system? Happy to answer any inquiries.

@Squad-mates: OK, just checking - Who is still playing? Kaleo? (You did the last post before me, so I assume yes.) Hendrich? (You have added some artful entries, so I assume yes for you also.) Syntac? (We knocked you out but you can still dream, have a flashback, suddenly jump up and start dancing, etc.) Plague Bringer? (I'll bet you are working on other fiction. Are you still working on "The Collector"? I would like to see more. I hope my comments were not destructive of your creativity.)

Sorry about my own semi-negligence of this and at least four other threads (Querulous, Unvanquished, Trem RP #1, PB's story thread, etc.). Got busy with RL stuffs, and a friend asked me to join his clan. But I'm sure I'll have a lovely burst of inspiration SOON.

P.S. I'd say we have just about reached the end of this Scene and Act, and it's time to descend into that HR facility. Is it ready for occupancy, Mr. Dungeon Master?

Also, would you guys like to set up a time to "practice", "spar", "scrim", what-have-you? It would be interesting, to have the whole "clan", "guild", "team" on at one time. Anybody up for a team-writing session?

My time zone is GMT-8 (PST - US). I could be available, for a pre-arranged "clan practice", typically around 9 to 11 pm (my time), or alternatively, PM me, if anyone is interested. Please post your time zone (I believe I know everyone's approximate locations: two Canucks, an Aussie, and me and the other guy are West Coast US, iirc), and when you might possibly be interested in tentatively "getting together" for a "team-building session".

Cheers!

Let me know if anyone else has any other groovy ideas for kick-starting this hawg.

Well, there's no  way I would ever drop out of this, so yeah, I'm still in.

Also, all you guys can organize a time. I have a very flexible schedule (ie. I'm doing nothing), so whatever suits you.

We actually don't know. We're making it up as we go along. It's nice to know we have readers, though.
