Last time I heard this one it was the "intro" tune for one of the female contestants at a thaiboxing titlefight. It made me shit a brick to hear it at the time. Picture the challenger walking up to the ring with that song blasting <3.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-qmXNPg7so
I love the themes behind the lyrics. "The children of Yig and Set". I can't help but see gargantuan Lovecraftian snakes.
Musically it's very interesting. It has all Nile's trademark traditional instruments, and off-beat tempo.
And, fuck, the outro is just so epic. JUST SO FUCKING EPIC!

4/5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fI85hmqILs
5/5 - this was actually really good, surprisingly. A little depressing, but it was rather intruguing, probably my favorite of your list.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4ih3JVrRPE
3/5 - I really liked the instrumentals, but his wannabe screaming really needs work, I mean, you can't really do a whisper screaming, there are better ways to be soft while screaming and he should of picked up at the chorus, he's also too raspy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWgOLsNN8Yk
3/5 - kind of sam opinion as above only I liked the singing slightly better and the instrumentals less.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8c9maWYRNo
4/5 - hmm, this is really deep, almost too heavy of a mood for me atm, but definately something I could enjoy on a calm afternoon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPRCL1lSgJ0
4/5 - a little long but worth it, I enjoyed this one actually.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMZxZ5Nm95U
5/5 - Damn, the intro was kind of weary, but that really picked up and worked well, great tune all be it I'm not a fan of screaming.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_LTB3YFOBg
4/5 - the beginning put chills down my spine, but sadly this was either interestingly made or YT utterly killed the sound quality. Got a little too out of hand imo after the intro.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bCUZX6g8BM
2/5 - Sorry, this one just really dropped the ball for me. They ruined the whole fade in out effect and the lyrics were just stupid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ol787NjpBS4
5/5 - This was really enjoyable, a good solid tune and good lyrics. Something I'd listen to again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FCU5_C1-xI
1/5 - This one just plain sucked. Seriously, Lol. No balance or control, it was like a 5 year old's first attempt at making music, just throw in whatever you think will sound cool, but the problem is, a few cool parts don't always add together to make one solid piece. This one just hurt my ears and made me cry a little :/
godbless
There you go, you spent 3 minutes making your list, and I wasted roughly an hour listening to it and rating it.
This would be one of my favorite songs, though its probably mainstream meh I don't care, I enjoy it.

Nightwishe's Over the Hills and Far Away (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UztEfwHt14&feature=related)
Both videos are retarded but musics awesome. Its the only two songs where I liked both versions.
Metellica- Call of Ktulu (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zt_ZE_ib9Wk&feature=related)
I was screwin' around, trying to find the source of "I like the way you smile at me baby" song and found this. Later on I gave up.

There you go, you spent 3 minutes making your list, and I wasted roughly an hour listening to it and rating it.
most of your complaints were regarding the vocals - but that's just how black metal singers do it, and it's definitely an acquired taste. i'm glad you liked some of it though

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oi-8xl7uZs
never heard of the band or the song, or anything like it really, 7/10
i can't think of any electronic/death metal to recommend but some good melodeath acts are Amon Amarth, Scar Symmetry, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, In Flames (early stuff), and Insomnium (you've probably heard of most)
also a good symphonic/death metal band that is usually overlooked is Haggard. next time you have another hour to kill check some of them out

I will, I don't really ditest that style of singing, but its definately not a favorite, but there was definately people who did it better than others in your list. Even if its death metal screaming or w/e it is, it needs to fit the instrumentals and be in tune, a few of those guys weren't very good at that, and it felt like it was a really bad cover, but some of the others were really solid, and I can appreciate talent. I'll probably check out some of those bands, thanks for the suggestions. I don't know a lot about bands, being my terrible memory for names, but I'm a huge music person and very open to listening to new things.

I couldn't find any other link but this one: East Trading Wang - Worm (http://www.garageband.com/mp3/East_Trading_Wang-Worm.mp3?|pe1|S8LTM0LdsaSkZVG0aw)
That song was on the soundtrack for the movie Little Nicky.

I skipped Overdose cuz I don't wanna download stuff... I'd rather stream it. I gave Annihilation's a 7/10, woulda been an 8 but I disliked the intro.
Studying Politics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3Er7S7z56w) - Emery (http://www.sound-of-rain.de/sor/bilder/covers/Emery-The%20Question.jpg)
IMO Emery has a great sound, but an almost non-existant stage presence and godawful lip-syncing/taste in music videos. See for yourself.
---
EDIT: I went searching for a version of Overdose's song that I could stream, and couldn't really find one in the 5 minutes that I was interested in looking. So I ended up downloading it anyway. I thought the instrumentals were a little vanilla, but I like the lead singers voice. I'ma give it a 7/10 as well.

I recently got into Hate Eternal, after having it sit on my iPod for several months.
I, Monarch has Derek Roddy from Nile and Eric Rutan from Morbid Angel, so I couldn't resist.

I got into death metal via Morbid Angel and Cryptopsy (early, mind you). How the FUCK is Nile anything like mallcore? Dude, if you want mallcore, go listen to BfmV or some shit like that.
Mallgoths couldn't handle anything more technical than a fly on the wall? How the fuck would they even know about Nile? Have you actually heard any Nile? I didn't fucking think so.

Anyone here like bands similair to:
Shadows Fall

speaking of mallgoths!

Mallgoths piss me off. I see them wearing like, a Killswitch Engage T-shirt. When I try to strike up a conversation about the band, they don't even recognise that Killswitch is a band. They think it is some kind of band. I almost died. People wear band merchandise because it looks cool, not because of the band. This is good for the band, dont get me wrong, but I hate these people.

It's not good for the band at all... If I saw a mallgoth wearing a Slayer t-shirt, it might put me off.
Especially if it was the same one I was wearing at the time...
-
Pah, only groupies wear band merchandise. You aren't a groupie are you? ;D
Altaria - Unchain The Rain. 5/5 I liked it.
Demon Hunter Infected. 4/5 Pretty good.
rise against-saviour. 4/5 Not usually my cup of tea but that sounds pretty good.
AMON AMARTH - Thousand years of oppression. 2/5 sounds like someone is raping a pig :o

5/5 for that line of text though
Annihilation's big ass list gets 3/5 from me for being too damn long. There are some gems in the mix though.
How about a little nostalgia?
Ink spots - maybe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ix1DT_osn3M)
Louis Armstrong - A Kiss to Build a Dream on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEk-Ao2LKGE)
-
yes, i listened to nile when i listened to better death metal bands, and decided to listen to the better bands exclusively http://www.last.fm/user/SiIhouette
In all likelihood, you can't actually get the point of Nile. Not only that, but claiming that they are the sort of thing mallgoths would listen to gives me the impression that you have no clue about anything. The closest thing a mallgoth would get to tech-death would be The Unspoken King, by Cryptopsy, which was shit even by metalcore standards.
I could respect your opinion if you didn't start yammering on about shit you have no clue about.
Anyway, @janev:
Only listened to Louis, going to give it a 5/5 for nostalgia, but not of the Fallout 2 kind.
For more musical nostalgia: Bob Dylan - Isis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnnbrmOeKt0)
For death metal nostalgia: Morbid Angel - Summoning Redemption (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKmo4mX5QBQ)

I am not a groupie. Have you ever had a conversation with a metaller? not to brag, But we are one the most passionate people on Earth. Up the top with religious people and gearheads. We wear the bands merchandise so when we see someone weraring a good bands shirt, we salute them. It is like wearing a beacon that alerts other metallers to the fact that you listen to 'the good stuff'. Not because we hope to one day meet the members of the band and make love to them.

WHAT!?!?!?! HOW DARE YOU! social outcasts my arse. Metallers listen to the music we want to, not to follow the crowd. Those dicksuckers (not to offend) who listen to miley cyrus and Fallout Boy will never experience the joy of listening to music that they really want to hear instead of what their friends want them to hear. My friends lik metal, but they like different bands to me. I DONT CARE! having a passion for something that I like, and not what I think I SHOULD like doesnt make me an outcast. It makes ME, ME!

yahoo is a troll, agreed. And @ Bissig. there is no 'metal crowd'. We wish we could gather enough of us to make a 'crowd'. It is more of a group. Besides, no two metallers will listen to the same kinds of metal. There are an unbeleivable amount of metal genres. If you think that I follow the crowd then think again. I'm pretty sure that Haste The Day aren't even with a record label. Haste The Day, Demon Hunter & Underoath are all christain bands, so that kind of rules out the whole 'crowd' thing. You are entitled to an opinion, but next time, make it a worthwhile opinion.

First off, I see that once again you failed to have a point to your post. The point of this post is to get angry at a troll.
secondly, there is no metal crowd. Just because two metallers don't like the same stuff, doesnt mean that there is a crowd. It just means there is more than one of us. Troll.
thirdly, Yes. I am awesome. I am.
and yes they are fucking metal. If you havent heard 'Bleed Alone' by haste the day then fuck off. By the way, UnderOath's new album. Heres two tracks, Desperate times, Desperate measures. &, Coming Down Is Calming down. Now tell me who the faggot is, faggot.
PS: when I commented about you not having a worthwhile opinion, to respond with ' oh you stupid cunt goddamnit

yahoo is a troll, agreed. And @ Bissig. there is no 'metal crowd'. We wish we could gather enough of us to make a 'crowd'.
I'm sorry for being off-topic, but this post just forced me to react.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacken_Open_Air
With 70,000 festival visitors, and including personnel a total of over 72,000 attendees in 2007,[2] it attracts all kinds of metal music fans, such as fans of black metal, death metal, power metal, thrash metal, gothic metal and folk metal, from around the world.
So.....that's not a crowd?
-
Thats not a crowd at all. Look at how many people show up to woodstock or a falloutboy concert.
-
So, what do you call a crowd?
Looking in the dictionary, these are the definitions of 'crowd':
1. a large number of persons gathered closely together; throng: a crowd of angry people.
2. any large number of persons.
3. any group or set of persons with something in common: The restaurant attracts a theater crowd.
4. audience; attendance: Opening night drew a good crowd.
5. the common people; the masses: He feels superior to the crowd.
6. a large number of things gathered or considered together.
7. Sociology. a temporary gathering of people responding to common stimuli and engaged in any of various forms of collective behavior.
So, reading the definition, I think it's okay to say there's a metal crowd.
Just because there are genres that have a lot more fans doesn't mean metal is just some music style meant for the very few that listen to it, hell, half my class listens to it.
-
agreed. I still listen to the genres of metal that are fairly unknown are disliked. Has anyone even heard of Demon Hunter?

IMO (worth its weight in gold, sadly, its untangible) Linkin Park is like Lynx Deoderant.
A 12 year old "cool dude" boy phenomenon, when they decide they need chains and a cap to look "cool".
And therefore should be shunned.
Thank you for your time.
That is all.

Ah, the Frinkin Snark loathing and contempt. Even after a month, as fresh and pungent as evah.

I saw DT live last week in Toronto on their Prog Nation tour along with Scale the Summit, Big Elf and Zappa Plays Zappa, they finished with TCOT from BC&SL and that was simply epic. Petrucci's rhythm part in Stream of Consciousness is one of my favourite things to chill out and play.
Anyway,

Symphony X - Paradise Lost (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyvOJlX4ZkE)
Helloween, replaced Dragonforce for my power metal needs. Symphony X has the perfect mix of heavy and light metal. Mixes good lyrics with sexy guitar riffs. One of my A+ Bands, along with Gojira.

Meshuggah are fast becoming musical gods. Music theorists and all of those important people with fancy names I can't remember, are reviewing meshuggahs music, and they're stumped by it. These guys actually have some songs in time signatures in (4+1/2)/4. It's about time we got some progressive in here.

2/5, the beginning's pretty good, but as soon as the vocals come in it loses most positive qualities. They're technicians, not musicians.
Little Richard - Good Golly Miss Molly (live) (http://listen.grooveshark.com/s/Good+Golly+Miss+Molly/1qQNho); it's amazing how different this song sounded live.
-
I have to agree with Whales here on that Dream Theater track. Not only not my style, but it just doesn't have any charm to it. Or maybe the lack of charm is just it not being my style. I like to listen to music, not math.
5/5 for Little Richard's live performances. That guy was (and probably still is) the best. He has the best expressions and his voice is fantastic.
Here's a live track from a little known New Zealand band in the early 70s. I hope I don't offend anyone with my "hippie" music.
Human Instinct - Railway and Gun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnzvh-Tkjc8)
"Maori guitarist Billy TK was the Jimi Hendrix of the Southern Hemisphere. He obviously took the lessons of the Master to heart and, on his albums with Human Instinct, took Hendrix's psychedelic approach to absurd new extremes. Not necessarily the greatest listening experience, but definitely the farthest "out" of any guitar psyche you're likely to ever hear. This album is one of the most important chapters of rock from that era."

Since I'm into blues, I can't give this song rate other than 5, though the guitar is a bit too "aggressive" for me ;)

Actually, I disagree, Portnoy is a technician and should NEVER SING EVER AGAIN. But all of the have studied music and music theory. They are professional musicians. That is their life.

Anyways the other two movements are worth checking out too. The second movement is really beautiful. Overall a very nice piano concerto.

Now for a bit of reggae
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmSuvRR7oC4
I like the bass and the guitar in the song, the piano and drums are quite dull on the other hand. Never been that much into reggae and the song is quite unoriginal, oh well, it probably works when you're stoned. 2/5.
Soul Captain Band - Hypnoosiin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F92iT8yVm6s)
This is pretty much the only reggae song I like, it's sung in Finnish though.

Well alright then, I didn't expect that given the general direction this topic was taking. So be it then.
4/5 on yours.
Just some pretty ordinary death metal here.
Ethic Instinct - Disbelief (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp1ESCNjr7s)
-
Decent enough yet a tad repetitive on the music, 3.5/5 for that one.
This one is by Aeveron, not really a well known band but damn they're good, they have a really unique sound and style. You really have to be able to appreciate a rather outlandish style of metal here.
Song is beyond epic, Gotta watch the whole song through and set to max quality (480p) of course.
Hope you enjoy.

I'd give it a 4/5, bot bad, but I don't like growling metal.
