Hmm, if the poll is broken in the main theme then please remove this thread. (I use SMF default)
Edit : Please refrain from starting flamewars. Noone cares about your opinion about the system, just vote, if you like self-expression, post it, but stop trying to attack other OSes / users.
Windows, but why is Linux and Windows so broad, and than there is only OSX?

Windoze/Ubuntu.
By the way, this topic was made already, so you might want to check it out if you are interested in more data.

Ok so Tremulous is installed on about 5 computers I use.
- 2 of those are the Windows XP computers I play on.
- 1 is the Ubuntu 8.04 server I host, well duh, the server on.
- The other two are Mr. Mustashio's OS X comp and his Windows 7 laptop...
Yeah, I have no life.

i wasn't implying that it was a bad os. i was implying that ive had more than my share of troubles on it.
and for the record Xp is my favourite of the windows os's.
and thats coming from a primarily linux user if it works only on windows or runs better natively ill use windows (ie 3ds max, photoshop(just because its easier to install) ).
aaaand, windows takes the lead! *wild cheering and screaming*
/me rains on your face's parade.

Linux - 36 (42.9%)
OSX - 7 (8.3%)

I think Face's parade is still nice and sunny....
Ubuntu 10.04/Windouz XP(in Virual Box for testing web server ;D ).
I do not play trem on any OS.
My OS is integrated into a Niveus terminal.

By the ways guys, when will Google invest in my idea of a Google OS? It's only a matter of time.

Um, they are making one. It's in the middle of production. It's all internet apps though, not really anything client-side.
Windows and Linux, and why anybody cares so much about what OS other people use I have no idea.
I care because shallow elitism is the sole criteria when I'm choosing what OS to use.
since i run like 4 machines all with linux and trem installed i should be able to vote 3 more times so linux is still ahead

Well I know like 31 people in real life who use windows therefore windows is way ahead.
I play trem on Linux, though I do have it installed in Windows.
I just play on my Mac OSX... It works surprisingly well and dont plan on changing any time soon.
Windows Vista.. TBH though, I could really care less - I guess I'm pretty adaptable
Playing Tremulous on Windows is perfectly fine for me, sooo WINDOWS WINDOWS WINDOWS 8)

Yeah, that's right. And what surprised me, is the command being written on it (rm -rf /).
Thorn, if what you're saying is right, then don't press enter under any circumstances!
Well if you think the ailens can read human data, then it might be a good idea if you're being overrun. Although for completeness' sake, in that case I'd suggest
dd if=/dev/null of=/dev/sda
obviously, this command results in severe data loss when run, do not try this at home.
Surely a trip to the armoury would be quicker :)
NuTyX (French LFS build) and OSX Snow Leopard on my gaming rig. Windows 7 on my Intel GMA laptop.
The only reason I'd really get a mac is for the video and audio editing. They're just too pricey for me. For the same amount of money as the bare-bones macbook I can get a decked out core i5 or core i7 Win7 laptop.
No benefit for video editing nowadays.
As far as I can see the only reason "artsy" people still use macs is inertia and because they are too thick to use a real computer.
OSX.
Though I am a hardcore Linux fan. :P
Winblows XP
Right now I play trem on XP but Im trying to get Linux set up. More specifically , Fedora Core 11 since I already had it.
Speaking of which, I am able to run trem in linux but I get much lower fps than I should. In XP i get about 250 where in FC I get about 40-50. Anyway I determined that the problem is my openGL driver. I have my graphics card driver installed correctly and apprently some version of opengl was installed with it. I am able to run glxgears in the terminal and what not, but I guess the driver isnt supported by trem or something. Im pretty sure that the highest version of opengl that my card supports is 3.2 and I can't seem to find older versions of it anywhere, just 4.0. Anyone happen to have any ideas?
are you using mesa drivers?
it seems like you are... according to that horrible FPS drop D:
1.open a terminal <--- you may need root privileges
2. type: lspci
3. post the output
as far as videogames go, stick with the windose...
for everything else, use *nix

Actually, try using Windows for everything. You will see, contrary to popular belief, that it does quite well.

A GeForce 6200 will only support OpenGL 2.1 at best, OpenGL 3.x is only available in the 8xxx and newer cards. The driver will detect that automatically, so you should install the newest drivers available from NVidia.com.
Run glxinfo and check that the 3rd line is
direct rendering: YesIf this is "No" you have software rendering. Also check that the OpenGL vendor is NVidia. Possibly the nouveau drivers are still active and they are slow and buggy (whereas the NVidia drivers are fast and buggy).
It says yes. I already installed the driver from nvidia (last week so its up to date)
I noticed when I got to options in trem, where it says opengl driver, its blank. I also can't change it.
Take it to PM or new topic. This actually isn't your troubleshooting thread.
..linux, OK.

I've installed (and played) Tremulous on Windows XP, Windows 7 (which I'm on now), several different Linux distros (including Debian, Slackware, openSUSE, and Ubuntu), and OS X. Any difference in the playing experience is in your head. Now, what prizes do I get? :D
PS: As a Linux user, Windows 7 isn't as bad as everyone says.
