All I see is that 4/7ths of the matches were won by forfeit, and the ones that were actually played were played by clans that regularly scrim anyway.

@wiredd: I really hope you don't think this "tournament" provides any greater benefit to the community than anything Dracone has done

...Dracone is well aware of how he acted, he deserves what he got.

Just to be clear, are you saying I was aware of that last part as well? That I'm aware of deserving what I got? I'm not going to jump to conclusions lest I, the tournament criminal, ruin this community helping miracle topic.

I am saying that you kept it up after an admin warned you to stop. What would you have had me do? Just let you and everyone else do whatever they want on my server? What would you have done if I had done that on your server?

no, what I mean is that just because he has done something or is someone doesn't mean that he has special rights that everyone else does not. I refuse to treat anyone differently for any reason what so ever. I have nothing against dracone personally, we used to be in the same clan actually. If a kick vote had been called in the game it would have passed, so it is not like my admin did something that was out of the ordinary. If the community at large doesn't want us to run a tournament then we won't. Dracone could have just listened to the admin and stopped and everything would have been fine, but he didn't. And now all his clan members follow me around to various tremulous servers and try to talk trash to me, even in the mgdev game! I am tired of this, I could be working on my mod or doing something useful instead of debating this so I am going to stop. If you think what we did was wrong that is perfectly ok with me.

Says a man with SST in his sig. AppleJuice is no teen, and most of V is in college, as I am myself. If you're too mature for our argument, why comment about it?

As for WireDDD (with three D's for a triple dose of his retardation) asking what he would have done...we have scrims every day. We lock the teams, and restrict chat to teamsay for the spectators. We don't leave mm1 unlocked like idiots, if we don't want people to talk aloud. Basically anything goes as far as teamchat is concerned. "Spamming" as we would define it cannot occur due to spam filters. If someone is really annoying, we kick them. If they evade, we ban them for an estimated duration of the scrim (couple hours). Afterwards, everything goes back to normal. That, sir, is how the situation could have been handled in order to avoid all this bs.

Sorry to distract you from your mod that everyone will love.

Personally, I will say that cone's constant name changes was a bit annoying, and I said so out loud, as I was playing at the time. I didn't know it was cone as the constant name changes, from what I remember, were quite random. I do think that banning him and the others was too harsh and unnecessary. Maybe the server needs a name change limit. While I do believe the banning was unjust, I also do think cone was stupid for provoking the admins with his antics after he was kicked.

You guys jumping on the RK people is really too much. Show your support for cone, but don't blindly trash others when you weren't even there. Honestly, if what RK said happened in spec chat along with the constant name changes really did happen, I would have kicked cone too. Cone, HAS contributed a great deal the the clan community, and I am glad I was part of it for a period of time, but I do believe he was out of line this time. I like cone, and consider him a tremulous friend, but I am not going to yell at wire and germ just because I've known cone for quite a while and have never really even talked to RK before.

Life would be so much easier if both respective parties apologized to each other, and started with a clean slate. One can dream, right?

Bissig i think you and papercut are a bit too old to be playing this game, and you being some faggy old man using age as defense in this argument is silly, you silly fuck you

also whoever was hosting this shit tourney should have at least looked at how scrims are performed before trying to hold their own, mm1 off, name change limit, spam filter, and locked teams are mandatory

Looks like both of us don't understand eachother on certain things.

I wasn't arguing with you. Your answer doesn't even answer my question. I asked if you meant that I knew I deserved that "punishment," because I wasn't going to jump on you when you didn't word it clearly to me in the first place. As for me knowing what I deserved, I think I've seen enough scrims to say that I am used to how far I can actually go with just fucking around, and what I did was about the same as I would do elsewhere, so no, I don't feel I do. However, that's only to talk along the lines of what's extreme and what isn't. What the punishment bars me from doing, I could care less.

Quote from: wireddd
no, what I mean is that just because he has done something or is someone doesn't mean that he has special rights that everyone else does not.

I don't do these things out of feeling I have special rights. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that no matter how much people like you, the people who know what they're doing deal with you experience by experience, and do not bias because of previous conversations or observations of your actions. I've decided in a few cases that I won't care about the consequences of my actions. As for what I've contributed, I have not ONCE done anything in Tremulous that I thought would have its priority number 1 be to contribute to the community. I always feel I know what the effects on the community will be, but I choose to call those effects indirect results of my actions.

Quote from: wireddd

Really? You were using a different name and it was a long, LONG time ago. If I'm wrong about THAT, I'll be amazed.

Quote from: _Equilibrium_
Personally, I will say that cone's constant name changes was a bit annoying, and I said so out loud, as I was playing at the time.

And here's where I drop off and actually admit that I went outside my own lines. Equi, I'm sorry for not reading that. Had I noticed it, I would have stopped, because I had no intentions whatsoever of disrupting flow of play for those actually participating. I'm known for being absent-minded constantly, but if I'm going to fuck around, I should pay more attention to those whose opinions of how disruptive someone is being really matter.

I suppose many people feel I should apologize. However, apologies are a way of saying you understand the consequences of your actions, and should be sent towards those who the consequences initially affect or where they come from towards you. So, I will not say sorry to the tournament hosts, but to the portion of the community that has had to see yet another issue pop up because I went beyond someone's low lines of tolerance for silly behavior.

That is what we did with one other thing, MM1 was restricted to level 1 or higher and !register was in the qvm so it should have been at 2. spam filters were in place, dracone was rejoining to change his name so he got banned. we did exactly what anyone else would have done.

Wrong again. This "what anyone else would do" is closer to "what anyone from KoR would do." I already outlined what a reasonable person would do.

You are being absolutely illogical at the same exact point every time. "He reconnected so he got banned" and you think that's textbook procedure or something.

If youve been running scrims so long, how have I never met you? I've been in hundreds of scrims in my time, and you've not led or participated in a single one of them. Unless of course you mean "one scrim a week for four months" in which case I understand your ignorance.

Bottom line is: It's your sucky tournament, you can do whatever you want, but I think you and worm have been assholes. As a result, AoD will never participate in your tournaments, and I encourage other clans to also limit their tournament entries to those hosted by respectable people of the clan scene( not RK) to prevent tyrannical DDDumbasses from trying to rule scrims we should be hosting on our own, but whatever happens happens. We will eternally be divided on the point of "what was worth a ban" and this argument will get nowhere.

@bleach: Noone made you read this topic. If you just want to play, go play. Anyone participating in this topic either loves arguing or has nothing better to do with ten minutes. Let us be. :)

Just because there is no physical restriction to stop me shooting someone, doesn't make it right to shoot them.
I have no idea what happened and couldn't care, but the people who are saying that if they didn't want people doing it they should have blocked it are idiots.

I would like to add that the people who are complaining about it all joined the server in question after dracone was banned as variations of "dracone" and so they were all banned as well. I don't care if you or your clan does or does not want to play. If they are all like you and have no respect for the rules then you are not welcome to play.

I respect the rules set in place by respectable people.

And another thing: Yarou, AppleJuice, Yahoo, to sum it up -none of the other people posting in this thread- connected as Dracone.

Why do I not respect you? Simple: I was there when S11 came into existence. I remember half a hundred people with stolen GUIDs on every server, thanks to your beloved Pol. The fact that you chose to associate with such a person has convinced me that you cannot be trusted or respected.

I don't like pol, I joined S11 before I ever heard about any of that, and once I found out about it I left. Besides that was a very long time ago. i'm sorry this did so much damage to your egos that you feel compelled to debate this forever,

You're right here with me, sir, and I'm sure Bissig won't be far behind to demonstrate his wealth of maturity.

I'm willing to bow out now, I've said everything I wanted to. I'll even let you have the last word. Go ahead and retort; I won't retaliate. The school week starts again tomorrow morning and I won't have the time to argue.

There are no winners to this or any other online argument. We have in turn displayed our nature to over-react in defending the actions of others. We have gone out of our way to debate something neither of us were involved in, for the sake of loyalty. There is no reason to further escalate our disagreement, and I hope we meet on better terms next time.

My apologies to the clans who were scrimming, if any of this really bothered you all that much.

People need a place to vent, I suppose.

Perhaps it would be better if this thread was cleaned. Leave just the organizational stuff related to the tournament and move the rest of replies to another thread and let them continue there.
New to Tremulous? Look up the Wraths Newbie Server in the in-game server list.
