Tremulous movie II

Tried to have multiple music genres. Also fixed some other music dynamics:

I ran across another very interesting approach, clearly inspired by Doom 3 IMO:
Tremulous Uprising Trailer
Tremulous Uprising 1/5

Quite nice. The alien scenes in the trailer should have been shorter and more sudden, for better psych impact, but all in all a good idea.

@Chess, yours is very very nice too. I especially liked the Tremor garden scene around 1:40 and the camera followups at 2:48-3:00. The high speed scenes were good too. The effects top notch. Loved the slow motion dancing rant at 0:38 and the human suddenly entering the view running at 0:25, and the replay of the rant killing the human in the ATCS courtyard. There are many other very good moments.

As for the bad, it's about how it all came together. The timing of the scenes was so so; the transitions from normal speed to slow motion not always spot on, they tended to drag on for a few extra seconds on scenes that had nothing more to offer (like after the rant is sawed in the human base on ATCS). Also avoid "static" scenes; like when the humans luci spam the alien room on Niveus starting at 3:00 -- great music, great speedup, too bad it was all filmed from a fixed point. A trick you could use is to intersperse such "static" moments with more dynamic ones and cut back and forth between them rapidly. And the black fadeouts were much too long for the rhythm of the music. All in all, a bit more alertness in all the scenes, more action, better timing, and it will be perfect.

Here's to more artistic approaches to Trem videos.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try out some of those on the next one (if there is one). Yah, some of the black parts were kinda long, but it was tricky timing some things with the music...I'll keep that in mind when I record next. The luci window room scene kinda fell together and I didn't give much thought to moving around :P

PS: I made a kewl intro title for the next one.

I am in the process of making a movie as we speak. Nothing special, just something I decided to do, might make a better one later. I will post it here when I am done.

PLEASE OH PLEASE PEOPLE.

DO NOT use acts in your video. So it is (collectively) the best playing map in trem, it is not however jaw droppingly beautiful. When you to a trem movie you want it to look good, they cant tell what the gameplays like bur they can tell if it looks good. Get nexus6 in there, metro, supertanker etc. etc.

This man speaks the truth! Also, less known maps could get some much needed coverage to get people interested.  ;)

I disagree.

ATCS is the most played map in tremulous, so if you fill the promo video with maps that aren't commonly used you'll be giving them a false idea of what to expect. It's probably not the best idea to work the game up as one stunningly beautiful thing and have them end up dissappointed. Aside from me actually liking how ATCS looks (no clutter, nice outdoors, soft colours) that's not what trem's about and the video shouldn't pretend it is.

Three things:
1. Footage is dark as hell.
2. Not everyone likes screamo type music. Just noting.
3. What HUD are you using, and is it compatible with Tremfusion?  :P

Other than that the video looks great.

Interesting videos from Chess guy and frazzler. Aside from the obvious problems, already mentioned, I'm afraid neither is much more than random gameplay footage set to music. I say random because no effort was done to actually direct the video, to make a connection between the scenes and the music (other than a generic feeling of alertness). frazzler made an attempt by introducing titles and both tried slow motion and such, but they stopped short of a fun watch.

Please, start with something much shorter, like 30 seconds, and make something that makes you feel something when you watch.
