I ran across another very interesting approach, clearly inspired by Doom 3 IMO:
Tremulous Uprising TrailerTremulous Uprising 1/5Quite nice. The alien scenes in the trailer should have been shorter and more sudden, for better psych impact, but all in all a good idea.
@Chess, yours is very very nice too. I especially liked the Tremor garden scene around 1:40 and the camera followups at 2:48-3:00. The high speed scenes were good too. The effects top notch. Loved the slow motion dancing rant at 0:38 and the human suddenly entering the view running at 0:25, and the replay of the rant killing the human in the ATCS courtyard. There are many other very good moments.
As for the bad, it's about how it all came together. The timing of the scenes was so so; the transitions from normal speed to slow motion not always spot on, they tended to drag on for a few extra seconds on scenes that had nothing more to offer (like after the rant is sawed in the human base on ATCS). Also avoid "static" scenes; like when the humans luci spam the alien room on Niveus starting at 3:00 -- great music, great speedup, too bad it was all filmed from a fixed point. A trick you could use is to intersperse such "static" moments with more dynamic ones and cut back and forth between them rapidly. And the black fadeouts were much too long for the rhythm of the music. All in all, a bit more alertness in all the scenes, more action, better timing, and it will be perfect.
Here's to more artistic approaches to Trem videos.
