Map Repository?
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:53:04 pm »
I was wondering if there was a map repo that had most of the maps, if not I could probably create one (another question, is 50GB bandwidth enough?).

Try to search a little maybe?

This isn't all of them I'm pretty sure.  Keep in mind that many of the maps are works in progress or just terrible.  However, there are also a lot of maps that are mid-good to quite good, you just have to sift through them.

http://downloads.mercenariesguild.net/maps/
http://betaserv.tk/paklist.html
http://maps.randomkeywhacking.com/base/

Also, Kromeh was talking about all the maps he's amassed and putting them somewhere people could get to them:

edit: I might add that these repos are used by servers which direct trem clients to http download from them, which is much much faster than direct from the server.  The mercenaries guild one is open for any server to direct downloads from.  I wouldn't speak for the others as I don't have much to do with them but if you get on IRC you could find the owners quickly and they can tell you.  Ultimately, anyone can get these maps from any of them if you just want to direct your browser at them ;)

I was going to list that too, but I've been getting a "connection refused" from multiple locations when I tested it. :(

http://betaserv.tk/paklist.html
That is an automatically generated list of "*.pk3" files from about 50 different general repositories (is it missing any?). http://betaserv.tk/base/ is one of them, but I don't recommend using that for real servers unless you want to constantly ensure your server uses the same maps as Betaserv.

If you do make your own repository, tell me about it so I can add it to the list.

Having difficulties with the server at current.

Fixed. After a reboot, tremcentral.com is up and running again! Any questions? Message me!

www.maps.tremwars.com has some maps from Australian mappers that may not appear on other map repos (aka fool's gold, 1v1 map, etc). In comparison to other map repositories it is rather small though.
