I give Captain Ventris a recommendation. Miki already outlined his skills (which I confirm after playing a few games with him), what I want to add is that he very team friendly. Always a few lines of encouragement comming from him. There are some pro players who are very quiet and independant, which I think is a drawback for clan like MG, and Cap'n Ventris seems completely opposite of that.

I can recommend Juno, i played with him on a Tremor game and we could do good coordinated attacks.
He's fun to play with..

[NOTE:] I found out i actually bitch quite a lot about noobs that frustrate me and bad teammembers :-?
Is this really bad for MGR? :x

Well.. the goal is to try to help them stop doing annoying things.

The thing about }MG{ that makes it different from a standard public server free for all is that these are people who WANT to learn from eachother. They WANT to listen, and they want to provide input. This won't be a hard-headed noob fest..or a vet beatdown. You have to have some patience and be willing to help as much as they are willing to learn. There will be some people ofcourse that think they have a better strategy or way to play than you do as well. Sometimes there just isn't a right and wrong.

Mainly trying to filter out greifers and people who are constantly verbally distruptive in game... the bad people....
It really depends on the ammount/type of bitching/what your bitching about... It is hopefully going to be a good learning environment for both vets and noobs, and I hope to keep the friction down, so if its in a degrading manner and devoid of any tip about what this person SHOULD be doing instead, then it might be a problem. The noobs can get chewed out in game, they don't need to join a clan to get chewed out if they are trying to get better.

Well I'll join. I play pretty much wherever, usually on humans. End up ~3rd with ~30+ kills.

UG? I don't have a specific server if that's what you mean. Mainly armegeddon, beer garden, linux x62, and atcs 24/7 (partial server names). Maps I use nievus, atcs, tremor, and arachnid2 mainly. I use humans only generally, except on ATCS and transit.

I would recomend Howitzer, pretty good player.

Do you want any forum hosting/site for the clan?

As far as forum hosting and site hosting, I have that down. I have a period to work on getting it up AUG1-AUG22nd. The site is going to make a lot of this a lot more clear and easier. Thank you for your offer though.

We do need generous admins maybe to offer time later on to practice. I might invest in an }MG{ server so that we can lock it and have practice regularly where any member can just drop by and enjoy a friendly game.

Also thanks to everyone for their reccomendations, keep them coming!
I'm reccomending WASP.. played with him yesterday and he was pretty good.

Also.. trying to keep track of these reccomendations best i can. If i make a mistake in counting let me know!

I think that once this gets off the ground people could mentor other people 1 on 1.  What has been directly suggested is nice and all, but i think 1 on 1 would be better in some cases.  For example: If I play alien and you see that I suck,  have I just not gotten enough experience with alien, or do I just plain suck?

I think 1 on 1 would also encourage greater communication and understanding as the mentor gets to know what exactly the mentee needs help with.

This could be an informal thing, like in a forum:
A: I need tutoring with alien.
B: I can help. What time?
etc...

Or we could make something more complex if we get a web server or something set up.  That part isn't my say.

Indeed thats what I was thinking of for when we get our own server.
People could observ and see if there is anything they could suggest to help a certain team, or a certain player with. Or as you said, maybe meeting up with a specific player somewhere. Feel free to try it on the public servers if you want.

At the start though before we have a server it will be more of a:
"i would like to get better at doing this, what should i do?"
kind of thing... where you have to ask and be answered on our forums.
There will also be a lot of broad strategizing.. maybe bring things to light you wouldn't have though of before!

Our own server!!?? Cool!!!

This can open up tons of possibilities. I was thinking of looking at the source code of trem to see it was possible (possible for me, with a scarce history of programing, Im sure its possible anyway) to make scripted levels. For example, we can have a training excerise where a new player logs on as a dretch and his objectives are to get to the end of a ramp. But at the end of the ramp there would a human controlled by rudimentary AI. A message would pop up for the player saying that his first task is to zig zag to the end, and kill the player. Then, he'll be forced to redo the task except this time with wall walking.

With scripted levels, we wouldn't have to reteach the same basic strategies over and over. We can provide more help with more advanced strategies during player to player sessions.

Actually, we don't need to use the server for that. The player can download those training excerises from our site, while our server should be dedicated to player to player help.

P.S. I am proud to be a member of }MG{

I would love to join.....I am a pretty good player, and in a normal match as human I can get 20+ kills, usually in the top five. I have a little difficulty as aliens, but I am getting used to them. Ummmmm....ask anyone on the AKKA server, and they'll tell you I am not a complete asshole. I did accidently charge a lucy once for too long and blew up half the base. It was my first time with a lucy cannon. Other than that, I am a good player. In a BS and with a chaingun, I can take down three-four tyrants without dying, more if I am lucky.
t's time to rock some socks.

 8) hell ya

im not bad with aliens. need to improve my human skills. but after playing as aliens , theyre not so scary and i camp less. i can dodge goons etc easily and  dodged about 4 the other day on ATCS and made it back to base . also, tyrants arnt scary . just dodge them with a chaingun and they will run like little scardey cats!

my main human weakness is dretches - dretches > me  :(

I'd be interested in joining this clan.  I play mostly on AKKA, SST, and on tjw for a while.  I started trem as noobalicious or newbalert or some such, changed it to tuple and haven't changed it since.  There are two color combo's through, one for my linux partition and one for windows.

I haven't played human in a couple weeks, as I'm trying to improve my skills with the different alien classes.  I'm getting better with a goon, still need work though.  I can clear a hallway as a dretch.  My favorite is the adv. mara.

I don't seem to rack up the kills like some, but I do seem to focus on team more than most.

I was almost banned from a server once, a kick vote for being a poor builder which was a mistake (I had been a builder for a total of 2 minutes through 2 lucy strikes, but this guy blamed me.)  I haven't been banned from anything else, guess I just haven't screwed up that bad yet.

Tuple, i've see you around...
I noticed you because of your name.... seem to be doing a lot of work with actual tuples recently..
You didn't seem to be a bad guy so i'll go ahead and give you a rec. I'm sure i'll see you around some more though.. just be careful about building, people are really touchy about building and even some good base builders get kicked when a good enemy team makes them look weak... try not to "screw up that bad" ;)

Also everyone, please watch out for the people on the list.. some are really close and need your help!

EDIT:
Watching ventris play as I type this.. nice going :)..
Thats your 3rd rec!..
