Machines whirred, computers beeped, and scientists ran around in different directions. A live marauder had been captured; this opportunity would not go to waste.

Doctor Kayne Phillips was in charge of the procedures. A recorder was in his pocket at all times, recording each and every word the doctor said.

"The date is the twenty-second of September. The time is seven-thirty in the evening. Test subject--live alien, originally name marauder. Begin sleep-inducing drug injection."

Numerous robotic arms with needles stabbed the marauder simultaneously. The alien screeched in pain, and the scientists were forced to cover their ears.

"Test subject relaxing. Beginning blood extraction."

Phillips himself took the blood sample. As he approached the alien, it twitched, shuddering and convulsing in an unpleasant manner. Its eyes darted to stare at the doctor. He felt a chill shiver down his neck and, taking a deep breath, forced himself to continue.

"Skin is very tough...leathery like...very hard to pierce through. Blood is freezing to the touch, green in color."

He placed the sample under a microscope and looked into the lens.

"Able to see various microscopic organisms swimming in blood. Do not appear to be cells, for they are very un-cell like. Excess flagella and cilia appear to be latching on to what looks like an external nucleus.  Moving at astonishing speeds. Irregular activity could lead to..."

Turning his head around to the alien, Phillips narrowed his eyes and pinpointed his sight to the area where he stabbed the marauder with the needle. There was no wound.

"Extreme healing capabilities."

Inputting commands into the master computer server, Phillips ordered the scientists to stand back. A robotic arm with a saw snaked through the crowd, holding just above the alien's head.

"Beginning incision one on alien's head. Purpose--brain tissue extraction."

The buzzed as it spun faster and faster, and began to slice through the alien's head. Green blood splattered everywhere. When the incision was finished, the scientists leaned in to look inside the alien's head.

"Test subject lacks a brain. Replaced by its...heart."

The pulsing motion of the very familiar red object inside the alien's head shocked the scientists. Jaws dropped as they struggled to accept what they were seeing.

The presumed dead marauder began to twitch. Fearing the worst, some scientists backed away, eyes completely focused on the alien specimen.

"Test subject is beginning to move. Unknown reason. Starting death blow."

But before the doctor could command the pulverization of the alien by a steel hammer, the marauder itself closed its own head wound and flipped upright on the examination table.

"Test subject skin looks to be boiling from underneath. Bones beginning to protrude from body. Growing new limbs--"

A blood curling, inhuman cry echoed throughout the entire facility. Security guards awoke from their short nap, and studying scientists looked up from their books. Although, what was happening in Observatory Room 24 was the exact opposite from what they were thinking.

In horror, scientists kneeled, tears streaking down their face, praying. There was no hope. As the last voice recording was recorded, the human world was just starting to know the power and might of their worthy adversaries.

"Oh my God"

Interesting read, but I hope those scientists bothered to place turrets around the alien for protection. :P

Second

"You've gotten old, Sarge." The cocky private chuckled at his commanding officer.

"Don't talk like that to me, son," said the sergeant. He slowly stood up with the help of the private.

"I thought you weren't scared of goons, sir," said the private. The sergeant took a deep breath, and replied, "this one took me by surprise."

"Enough to knock you off your feet?" the private chuckled again.

"Unless you want a demotion, I suggest you shut up."

"But sir, I'm already at the lowest rank." With that remark the private doubled-over, laughing. The sergeant ignored the witty comeback and walked back to the battlefield from the abandoned bunker.

The war between the humans was coming close to an end. It had been well over ten years since the shocking discovery that set newspaper companies rich and scientists famous. Mutating genes in the aliens' bodies.

In the current time, it was only a matter of who had more knowledge of the enemy. Originally, the aliens were thought to be mindless and drone-like, but, as the years went on, this theory soon proved to be false. The aliens were fully capable of adapting to any new weapon or armour the humans invented, although a laser rifle known as a pulse rifle seemed to be slightly more effective than the rest. Flamethrowers were certainly useful, since nothing was immune to fire.

The human colony C-128 had been destroyed. The aliens had taken over and the humans either hiding or killed. The government made no effort to save the poor souls upon the colony; they simply said that it was a waste of time and money, and that "those people are only farmers and mechanics." This brought an uproar in the capital city of Brahnchius, but of course the government had it under control and killed off anyone who revolted.

It then carried out a series of experiments upon live alien captures. Through these hideous  tests they figured out how to create super-soldiers, humans that were physically and mentally capable of fighting the aliens. They were cloned from one man, and that was the highest ranking officer in the military. Instead of having names like real people, the clones were assigned numbers and letters. The government did not think the clones to be real people.

Although the experiments were successful, they still felt that they were lacking something. Something incredibly important, something that could be the answer to all the problems involving the aliens. A missing link.

The Army of Order was what the clone army was named. They soon replaced all human soldiers on the battlefields, dwindling alien populations from millions to hundreds in a couple of weeks, a feat that no human could ever do.

Their only worthy adversaries were the dragoons. Huge, black and marooned coloured aliens that evolved from marauders. A dragoon's powerful hind legs able the alien to pounce up to a recorded length thirty feet, shredding whatever it landed upon with its sharp front legs. Although the clones' eyes were fast enough to observe a dragoon pounce and quickly dodge out of the way, it did not render them invincible.

*

"So the dragoon is the most powerful form of alien?"

"Yes, we believe so."

"There won't be any more mutations?"

"No, absolutely not."

"Then the human race has a chance?"

"With the technological advancements and the Army of Order, yes, we have a very good chance."

"How long do you expect this war to last?"

"I'd say only about another month or two, if--"

"You hesitated. What were you going to say?"

"It's nothing. I was about to say, if things stay the way they are. But you military officials shouldn't worry yourselves with this. Please, I assure you, the aliens are finished. We will be victorious."

Third

Tensions were mounting between the Legend and the Nefarious factions. Due to rising

economic problems and various other issues, Nefarious launched a full-scale war on the

American government. Based in Russia, they had plenty of atomic and nuclear warheads.

Caught by surprise, American did not react fast enough to defend against the threat, and

as a result, the area once known as Washington D.C. turned into a desolate wasteland.

Legend, having since taken over the American government, ordered the immediate

invasion and security of Russia by force. They sent well over two hundred thousand

soldiers to the motherland, and in one night they were all killed. Having destroyed their

enemy's main army, Nefarious began their invasion, successfully taking over the United

States of America, and renaming the country New Soviet Dominion. The remaining

American citizens took to space, colonizing the planets that had been deemed fit for

living by a secret American organization. The government of the New Soviet Dominion,

not knowing of the other planets, thought their enemy to be defeated and relaxed their

army and military actions. The survivors lived in space for three decades, until president

Henry Wilkinson was elected. Wilkinson declared war on the New Soviet Dominion, and

during a span of five years, the Americans created warheads fashioned out of meteors and

asteroids. They launched seventy-five warheads into Russia, and seventy-five into the

New Soviet Dominion. The "alien nukes" punched through half of the earth's crust, and

the holes began filling in with ocean water. Soon, the continents once known as North

America and Europe became chains of islands that were uninhabitable due to the amount

of radiation from the warheads. On the largest American planet, Wilkinson was deemed

"Sovereign Protector", a position he created himself that would allow him to have

complete control over all of mankind as he knew it. The largest American planet was

named Brahnchius, and a solid gold chamber was created known as the People's Chamber.

There Wilkinson ruled, and as the years went by, he became more and more of a dictator

rather than a protector. Fed up with his actions, a group of trained assassins staged a siege

against the People's Chamber, where they got millions of people with weapons all

standing outside, shouting and rioting. Using this as a distraction, the assassins broke into

the chamber and assassinated Wilkinson. From inside they overthrew the government,

forming the "Colossus", a group including the assassins that would be the ultimate in

their power. Pure communist in their nature, the Colossus opened immigration to the

surviving denizens of Earth. Billions flocked to the planets that the people once known as

Americans had discovered. There they flourished and lived in peace.

*

Fifty years later, the assassins passed away and a new generation was brought as the

Colossus. This new generation, artificially created from the cells of the original Colossus

so that they looked identical in appearance, did not have the same views as their

forefathers. Banishing the name Colossus from the dominant English language, they

chose a new name. Gods of the Universe. The Gods, as they called themselves, assigned

each member a number and called that person by their number from then on. Many

opposed this, but none could do anything about it due to their fear of the Gods. The clone

of the leader of the late Colossus, Number One, turned the government into a dictatorship

and left the people to defend for themselves. He himself retreated to the People's

Chamber with the other Numbers and stayed there, never coming out. Years passed, and

the people did not care for their government anymore. Many resorted to theft and assault,

but since there was no law, they could not be called criminals. Because of this, the once

glorious nation known as Brahnchius fell into ruins.
