Porn in Tremulous?

Hello, I am Shadowlord in game, I am wondering a general consensus here.
As many know, {NoS}Snake has allowed Porn on his server MM through a map called Porn-b1 (mind you porn is illegal for persons under the age of 18 in the US alone, other international codes and laws apply, yada, yada). I personally do not think this should be allowed on a game which is meant for an audience of 13 and up (give or take a few years). With this, I have contacted him and he refuses to take it off of his server (which is accessible to everyone that knows how to run tremulous). Now, I also want your views on this. I feel that he is promoting porn to the younger users and that he supports it.

If you guys would, please keep it appropriate and within forum rules when replying, if you have an opinion show it.

I will be refering this to {NoS}Snake when enough replies come in.

(When replying I would like you to (But are not required to) mention you age by saying +18(18 or older) or <17(17 or younger) so we can get an understanding of what all ages think.

I agree, but I believe he should retain the privilege of hosting any map he wants if its his server. If you believe this is offensive, don't play on it. Besides, the map-name should be more then a clear indication of what to expect.

As far as I know, things like this will not be a problem in later releases of Tremulous.

Although it is not necessary, I would still like to throw a few words in here:

1) If you don't want to see porn, don't play a map called "Porn"
2) This is far from the first Tremulous map with porn in it.
3) "LOL INTERNET"
4) If you think this map will be harmful to early pubescents, you have obviously never been a 13 year old boy.

I can't find porn-b1 but dl.mg.net had map-pic_o_porno.pk3 which seems to just be a single image of porn.  (Now deleted).
IMO it's not a map, so shouldn't be there.  (If there's anymore non-maps in the repo, please tell me)

I personally find it distasteful, but so long as it's named porn it's not unexpected.
That said, your server your rules and there's not much anyone can do about it.  (I have no clue about laws etc).

As far as I know, things like this will not be a problem in later releases of Tremulous.

I heard about this from snake so i thought i'd come over here and explain everything.
I originally made the map for a player named Sex. who requested that i make the map, i never expected it to cause such a big problem since that the Name of the map is porn-b1 so people should know what the map is about... the level shot has a 18+ warning on it. but since its upsetting people ive asked snake to completely remove the map from the server. I understand that Tremulous is for all ages and wasnt thinking about that when i made the map. I will be making a new map that is a little less reveling.

I removed the porn map in request of the author, however, I don't think that the map gets to be  an issue, first its called porn so you know what to spect. Second, there are more things to worry about outside on the internet than in tremulous, if you want to watch porn you dont do it on a game map, you go to a website. Third, there are other more things such as offensive and racist names, also comentaries, there are a lot of things that have to be sensored and the REALLY damange people.

However I respect your point of view, and I removed the map.

meh its kinda expected with that title that the map would have some porn

used to play an unrealtournament mod named bunnytrack it was a "tricks" mod the mappers usually put "porn" rooms in their maps often hidden and acts more of an easteregg in them so i dont really mind/care if a map has porn.

if the map/porn isnt forced on people(in other words not in rotation) and labeled 18+ with the mapname porn i see no problem with it being on servers

I wish to thank Snake and Effect for agreeing to remove the map. Sorry if I caused any drama. Again, I was simply acting because (In my clan alone) every one is pretty much under 18 (Being the oldest, sorta gotta act like a father figure), I just feel that it isn't really deemed appropriate to be on any server, I do wish to appologize to the Server Owner (Snake) and the Map Maker (Effect) for the fuss I raised over this, guess I did go a bit overboard with my moral campaign.

Personally, I don't think people actually find porn "offensive" so much as so taboo that they go into a nervous frenzy.  So, my stance is that I don't care if someone has porn in a map.  In fact, I think it'd be entertaining to kill people who get distracted by it XD

As for the age thing, I think that also has to do with how taboo porn is.  There are tons of teens who look at porn, and I'm pretty sure that most of them have not become sluts and pimps.  The real damage, in my opinion, comes from socializing everyone into subconsciously fearing the topic of sex.

I do realize that there are laws regarding porn (and copyright, for that matter), so whoever makes maps with porn in it should, for their own legal safety, learn those laws and abide by them; I'm not in any way saying to ignore the laws and do whatever, I'm just saying that the laws are, in my opinion, baseless.

Also, it doesn't really matter where the porn is in a Tremulous map because anyone can just unzip the pk3 and grab the images.  Just sayin.
