Regarding Official 1.1 AND 1.2 servers

I am just curious, and as someone who ONCE IN A BLUE MOON feels like poking around 1.2, WHY are there no servers for 1.2 open at night (EST USA) I have seen 2 or 3, I think mainly Dretch Storm, and something in Chinese or something... Even the 'official' 1.1 servers are dead at night...

I am just curious, cause it seems like everyone talks about all this 1.2 gameplay, 1.1 clanfaggotry (Thank you Enshoku (AKA Omega) for that word) and yet the servers are dead at night except the few 1.1 modded servers etc...

Anyone have a clue as to why?

Yes face... I know they sleep.... But there are plenty of people up on 1.1.... On the modded servers anyway....

A lot of the players who play on US Official 1 server are, unsurprisingly, from the USA, and thus share only 4 timezones (continential USA anyways) which means that during late night times a lot of them ARE going to be asleep. Or perhaps doing something besides playing tremulous.

US1 is usually pretty busy from between 3:00pm-midnight-ish CST I believe...
So I have no idea what you're smoking...
And yes, people generally find sleep to be good.

Also, last I checked, 1.1 seems fairly quiet as of late...(not that I check often)

1.1 is not quiet for starters...  There are ALOT of 1.1 servers populated at night (NOT official ones)... Not to capacity, but still more than 1.2... Im lucky if I see 1 server up at night for 1.2... and that for me is from 10pm till around 1 weeknights and later on the weekends... EST so what are you smoking?

That would be helpful. I want to give 1.2 another try, seeing as I have been playing on not as severely a modded server as X lately... And it would be nice to play on a 1.2 server that is in English and not Chinese... That was a hard 15 minutes LOL

Thanks... But contrary to popular belief I care about the entire Tremulous community... From the 'letter servers' to the odd KoRx server, to Officials 1.1 & 1.2... Im just fiercely brand loyal, i.e. my zealous defense of XserverX.com. But I have defended Tremulous itself from people I know that say its old, gay, retarded, for babies, noobs, fucktwits and asshats. I love the game... Seriously I do... I just dont get along with everyone sadly, when all we want is to see Trem stay alive so we all have something to do... Its what hold some of us together...

1.1 has roughly 200 players playing in the hours I do, and GPP 20-40 (that's what I've observed from !tremstats at least)

There have never been official 1.1 servers.

You might be mistaking the Debian-failure "Tremulous 1.1.0 Server" for official, but those are just a result of people installing too much software from their repositories.

Tremulous used to be a good game.  Until I met a certain person named GT-Dragoon then it was still a pretty good game.  Now its an OK game because he muted me for using my "FOAR FRODO DA RING AND DA SHIRE!!!" bind.  Now its a fucking retarded game because when I sang "Nothin' on you" to him a person named [g]  BANNED me.  Reason: song.  SONG IS A REASON FOR BAN?  Now I just quit the 1.2 because a very douchebag person named console on the US server banned me for reason: lol no.  LOL NO IS NOT EVEN A SENTENCE/VALID REASON TO REINFORCE ANYTHING LET ALONE TREM BANNINGS.  I have a thread about this and maybe I shall be heard.

Those seem like they're all misbehaving, unfirm GT members. I'd contact kharnov or medistation (noitatsidem) to resolve this issue.

For the full 24 hours AA usually averages 17 players.  Which usually translates of peak times of 22+ players.  I almost never see less than 6 people on and that's just one(albeit it one of the most popular) 1.1 servers.  There are times that I think AA alone rivals the entire GPP player base. 

It's been like this for a while now, GPP's base is growing, but slowly.  I wonder if it will ever get up to par with 1.1.  It was having a push a while ago and died down.  This summer could change it though.

IF there is some serious upgrades to the game, AKA Graphics, models etc... Gpp might go somewhere.. Till then I think 1.1 will remain dominate. KORX has already proven that new models and new concepts are popular, and although the Vanilla community is set in their rut, change is good... It is stale devving and lack luster releases that will kill Trem... And Trem is something we should strive to keep alive.

I know that the devs are ever so busy doing other things, seeing as trem must be so hard to work on... Maybe others should offer their know-how.. Get the ball rolling. Of course as many good ideas that get struck down by either a stuck up dev OR a stuck up player who wants NOTHING new... Well, thats what is turning Trem from an open source enjoyable game, to a clique filled cluster of rival morons... Its a big community,,, Outcasts included...

As of now for example: 224 players, of which 43 play 1.2, 101 some kind of a mod/unlimited and 80 1.1.
