Seal off you maps better, no part of your map should be exposed to the void. Also, use the errors you're given to find out where you are leaking and fix those leaks.

A leak means there is a path from the void to one of your entities. That red line that shows up shows you were the leak is so you can find it and plug it.

Before compiling hit ctrl+d, ctrl+p, alt+2, alt+4.  This will make finding the leak much easier.  (It hides all detail brushes, all patches, all entities, and all translucent shaders.)

Also, sometimes if the leak is going straight through a structural wall or something, remake the wall again from scratch.

and if you get REALLY pissed off at  the leak, make your map inside a giant box
these are stupid suggestions, don't even waste our time.

That would look horrible. . .

Check your grid setting, sometimes I set my grid at .25 and when I start up the program next time it auto-re-sets at a higher grid so I can't see the leak till the grid is lowered.

I don't know, but I assume that it's because it might increase compile time.

Oh wait. I think I know why. A VIS leak would mean that in some places, unnecessary stuff is drawn.

Oh wait. The box is caulk, you say? Then nothing unnecessary is drawn.

Maybe people just consider it to be a dirty solution if there's still a hole.

The giant box is ftw don't think it's a dirty solution.  It always works and you only have to do it once.

It's the lazy way to fix leaks. You'd never see a giant caulk box in an official map.

Well sure, add a giant caulk box, but the problem is you are not fixing those leaks, which may be visible while in game.
