how do i determine how high a plat will go?
these are stupid suggestions, don't even waste our time.

Copy/pasted from radiant:
height: if set, this will determine the total amount of vertical travel of the plat.

So if I set the height key to 256, the func_plat will traverse the space between where you placed it in radiant (raised position) and 256 units below it (lowered position). It spawns in the lowered position on map load.

The platform, you’re better off using a door as a platform or a func_train. For completeness sake though I’ll tick it off on my list. It’s sound is bugged. It must always be created in the high position for correct lighting. It will return almost immediately after a player gets off it.
