Moose left out the best part. Not only does a bat-pack give you infinite ammo for both the p-saw AND the blaster, it also turns the saw into a portable medi-station for humans. Equipping a bat-pack/ p-saw combo will allow you to act much like a Medic in TF2. Just get close enough to touch a teammate with the blade while holding down primary fire. When you hear them grunting, that means it's healing.

I can't tell you how many rounds I've saved just by saw-packing my teammates from behind while they were defending against an Alien Rush.
