New guy here - A few questions about Tremulous?

Hey, through a bunch of random searches, I've managed to find Tremulous, which sounded like a fun game. But while I download it, I've a few questions.

- Do people still play this, and could I get a rough estimate?
- Is the game still being updated?
- Are servers generally full or empty?
- Are there any tips or tricks a newbie should know?

Thanks for helping.

David

~3000 unique players per day, 150-200 online at any one time.
Still updated often, the latest GPP (beta) phase started just a couple of weeks ago, been years since a fill update was released though.
There are tons of empty servers that everyone ignores, still plenty with players.  1.1 servers gpp servers

Lots and lots of tricks to know, skim the manual for an overview of classes/weapons, don't bother with building for a while, you'll pick it up soon enough.
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

I'm disappointed that people's past actions have forced me to state what should be obvious.
I am not a dev.  Nothing I say counts for anything.

- Sure they do, surprisingly more people play the older 1.1 version. IDK about statistics but...pretty active...maybe.
- A tough question, but generally it is. (yes yes, SOON)
- Depends on the servers, but around...IDK, 30-60 people everytime I checked.
- Plenty of them, forum search is your friend.
First see this, and some time later this.
Stay firm.

Wow, thanks for the quick replies. I guess I assumed too much when I saw version 1.1 being 4 years old.

Thanks guys!

It's a running joke that version 1.2 will be out next Thursday. They're mostly tweaking the balance and finding new sounds now, though, so that might be a bit truer now.

Every time I have checked, 1.1 has 80-200 players on.

Defiantly, anyone who can string words together is a sensible way is welcome here.

#1 tip: When alien, aim for the head.
#2 tip: Tag along with a teammate or a group of teammates if possible, you'll both live longer.

Here is a much longer version of tips for GPP (or 1.2) you might find useful if you like reading up on things.

Also, getting custom binds help a fair bit by making evolving/buying weapons easier, but I'd only do that if you find you enjoy the game. The mercenaries guild had a good tutorial on this. I wonder where it went.
