Why are there only 3 stages.

I've played a lot of games where s3 is reached pretty early and from then on its quite a hit-and-run monotone game.

Would be cool to have a level 4.

Could do it 2 ways.

1st way is to expand existing levels and redistributing it to 4 levels. This would fix the problem of humans having pulse rifle on s2... they could get it on s3 and luci on s4 per ex.

2nd way is to leave current levels as is and come up with a new stage to advance to. Like the cool idea of having grangers eat grenades and run away and explode with it, or pregnant Tyrant maybe (though it sounds funny) or Basilisk that can unleash some vanilla swarm. On the human side, the mini tesla, the auto-repair and maybe some new stuff like ladder (not a joke, could be extremely usefull on s1 and so on) or even the ammo belt.

Well... what do you think?

No.  3 is enough.  Most games should end at S3 anyways, and do.

in most games its not enough.

Spreading the existing 3 stages to 4 gives the other team chance to catch up...

lots of matches where s1 vs s3 is on. and its pretty hard to get s3 at that position. not impossible though.

In managing a server, Stage 4 is possible, but it doesn't do anything useful. =|

Yeah, s3 is enough. New evos and items should be added into the current stages.

The reason is, at this point we need more diversity in the upgrades, not power. Adding a stage 4 would mean creating weapons stronger than the luci, bsuit and tyrant, and that would imbalance the game. I'm all for having, say, 3 aliens available per evo point, though.

I think that if there was an S4, here's what I'd spread these out as. (only weapons, as armor and stuff are pretty spread out already)

If a team gets to S4 the entire team suffers poison damage!... make the game go a lot quicker.. more incentive to attack and end it before S4...

S4 idea:

Humans:
Mech: uber slow battlesuit that can crush dretches, tons of health, and radar

Laser cannon: two modes charge and beam. On charge fires a beam for a few seconds that does massive

Laser turret

Aliens:
Advanced tyrant: Stronger and can fire streams acid and when it dies shoots acid everywhere

Super dragoon: Stronger, leaves an acid trail, and gets 4 barbs that have area damage

Grangers get acid bomb, they litteraly explode and shoot acid everywhere doing 30-60 damage.

I think aliens are more adventageous  because they have eggs at S1 and they can build anything anywhere. Moreover Eggs are also spawn points. However humans have repeater at S2 but it does not work as a spawn. That should be balanced imho( for example remote eggs impossible before S2) .

Aliens can hide pretty well.. They can build eggs on ceilings... humans cannot hide.. they cannot build nodes in strange places etc.... humans being able to run out in the middle of a map and place a big blue node wouldn't help much.. but the level surface constraint i think should be looked at... let them build on the ceiling or something, upside down nodes to dump people out so that they don't just stand there and clog it. like you can't do with an egg..

Um..repeaters give unlimited free reloads for energy weapons.

But most maps are so small that any half decent player will know where they are except on transit and pulse.

And a S4 wouldn't solve the S1 vs S3 problem, only enhance it. It wouldn't solve the tyrant rush strategy either. Fact is a human team that gets their strategy straight can win even a S2 vs S3 game where tyrants are plenty. You guys are overfearing them again.

Or are you suggesting we get rid of it alltogether?

Anyway, I don't think we need stage4 but simply a tweak in the current system.
Move pulse to s3 and problem is solved.
Hummies still get nades and helmets and aliens keep adv maras and adv grangers.
Seems reasonable to me.

(I'm not anti hummie, but pulse is really overpowered for s2. If more people knew how to use them, no games would ever hit s3)
Also, while I'm at it, can we please get rid of the flamer and replace it with something else. It's the worst weapon in the whole game. I'm more afraid of a flamer then a bsuit+lucy. maybe have it deal less DMG to aliens or a lot more to the hummie.

Now go play against 2 or 3 people who know how to use pulse rifle and die as just about everything. And remember, you still need to AIM with it. Damn humans spamming and saying their weapons aren't effective :roll:

I agree that aliens don't get as big an upgrade at s2 as humans do (unless the humans built no turrets near the armory/spawns/reactor), but pulse rifle isn't that bad. if you have an intelligent mara, they have to empty their clip at it, because if they ignore it, they will get 3 swipes to the back of the head before they know what hit them.
