US1 Crashes?
« on: October 21, 2010, 07:56:03 pm »
The last few times I've been on US1 my game has crashed suddenly... just frozen and forced a hard boot. No worries there, just a little annoying.

BUT, when I get back on, there is NO US1! It's vanished off my server-list. Is this just me, or has similar stuff been happening to other people? Maybe I didn't pay attention to a maintenance notice or something, but I thought I'd post this anyhow.

Not seeing the server after it crashes is normal, it usually shows up after 5 minutes or so. Your game crashing, however, is not normal. Do you get any errors?

Nope... it freezes, sometimes after someone complains about lag, and then makes two sounds depending on whats happening (gunfire, bite etc.) then nothing. blacks out. have to reboot

I'm gonna poke my head out of the mist to tell you that this used to happen to me all the time. The solution is that you have to remove pulseaudio and replace it with something more reliable. Since you were smart enough to post in this part of the forum, I'll assume you're smart enough to figure out what I'm talking about.

The problem is that even if he does, that's not as straightforward as it sounds. Pulseaudio probably means Ubuntu, and Ubuntu doesn't like it if you disable Pulseaudio.
Oh, and speaking of which, anyone know if the new release came out yet?

ok, can you give me the tool thingy app that can code?

Actually I was being brutally sarcastic. He posted in the wrong board section, so I was saying that the same intelligence would help him fix his problem. Anyway RoHAK if you want to fix this, read through my old thread where I had the same problem, >> here <<
BTW this error happens in Warzone 2100, another linux game, and is fixed the same way.

Thanks Conzul... No, your right, not the brightest bulb here... but I'll give it a shot :)

Running OSX by the way... not Ubuntu.
