just a heads up, ive banned 3 Unnamed players, 2 out of the 3 players deconned, if i have banned you and you one of the unnamed players, please dont hesitate to post here soo i can unban you, but nevertheless the ban will stick for 1 week...

All 3 of them where UnnamedPlayers, couldn't identify the correct one, banned via ip.

Do not play as a UnnamedPlayer, WARNING >< or something like this will happen again.

Doesn't the 1.2 client use the current username from the operating system instead of unnamedplayer thesedays? I may be thinking of another ioq3 based game of course.

The server *could* rename them to "UnnamedPlayer #" or something similar. In fact, if you are using segfault / tremfusion client, here is a script:

Put that in a .cfg file in base folder / a subfolder. (Add ! in front of rename for 1.1)

This was for the admins who have /rename. As I said: "if you are using segfault / tremfusion client...". It's just a really fast way to manually rename unnamed players.

Ah, that explains the occasional "  disconnected" messages when there've been UnnamedPlayers on the server.

i will warn 1st, 2nd warn and no response i will rename to UnnamedPlayer#0, #1 etc - because the other night i dealed with 3 UnnamedPlayers deconning... wasnt sure which of them out of the deconned me... Hence its my precaution to finding the bastard faster and easier.. 

If a admin or dev. doesn't like this precaution, please let me know.

I tend to lean more towards Dorothy# for unnamedplayers, somehow, when renamed such, players seem more motivated to figure out the /name command.

Sounds good to me. That said, this is a problem that can be solved automatically using Rezyn's newbie name patch. *pokes devs* Don't want us banning poor newbies because of a few spoil sports, do ya?
