TheSkyStation and VRCS

Here are two maps I have made in the last 6 months or so ibetween other projects.
This is Skystation (outside views)
And the levelshot for vrcs (no screenshots right now)

Fuck... it appears the images havnt appeared... can someone PLEASE tell me how to make them come up and then I will modify the post.
What I did was use the [insert image] button... then place the location of the image eg:c/documents/trem/screenshots... in the middle of the {img}{/img} or whatever
Is that right? what did i do wrong?

The image has to be hosted online somewhere to use the IMG tags. Try ImageShack or an image hosting site like that.
Code: (Correct Usage of IMG tag) [Select]
[IMG]http://something.com/blah/myimage.jpg[/IMG]Otherwise upload the pictures to the forum, with your post (It's under 'Additional options' and 'Attach').

Also, you must provide download links to your map. I recommend MediaFire for hosting the files.

i liek the sky station. its epic. work on detailing, and add a little more sectors.

Where is the caulk? There is a total of 7 islands/ large platforms. Come onto FSW server or Fearless kilelrs and take a pek. Those screenshots dont show you much at all

Well, from what I see on the screens:

  • The first one is kinda plain (too boxlike, you could also have used the forcefield-shaders instead of just the texture). There seriously needs to be more detail.
  • The Skystation (I was thinking about making a map like that myself) looks quite nice, although i believe it's too bright. There is also the problem, that a big skybox all around the map messes up the vis. Basically it makes trem rendering the full map at once, causing low fps. Btw, the glass-texture looks quite nice.

However, to be able to really judge your maps, I need to take a look myself. Please post a download-link.

Things you should not release here are.
  • Alpha stage maps.
  • Maps which are obviously crap. And if you cannot identify what is obviously crap then don't release your map.
  • Maps not in the .pk3 layout. This means no .bsp or .map releases.
  • Maps made for few people or groups with neglible gameplay worthiness. Or in other words, maps that are not made for the entire community.
  • Maps that do not contains camera spawns, regular spawns or lighting
  • Request to find maps. There is a full list in another sticky in this forum.
    Alternatively you can download maps from beergarden.


    Do note that you may be bashed and flamed from all sides if you release work which doesn't show any work going into it. Box maps, unplayable maps, severely glitched maps are examples of this. These will all get you to be yelled at. And the moderators don't care.

the caulk fail was that there WAS no caulk in your map at all.... and allso your work efforts show your lazy personality, work hard and achieve something, then come back and release it to us all.

Nobody will ever play your map if you can't be bothered to put up a download link.  It takes little or no time with this place.

I tried "The SkyStation" because it seemed interesting. It was kinda nice. You could detail it more, but it's okay. There are some issues that you should fix:

Most important:

There are a lot of these, light leaks. You should fix them.

Ok then. Well light leaks are a pain in the ass anyways. And this was really a warm up mapfor other maps I will be producing. More detail of course. And drazilox if you havnt notice I actually submitted a earlier copy of VRCS to you and wonderland server (before it was shut down because the mod was changed)

Lights leak when brushes aligned badly. A lot of help about this problem solution here on forums.

Quick-checked both of your maps.

VRCS
VRCS is quite bland with textures, with only few, and not pretty, to add. And brushwork is, well, not excellent. But I guess that wasn't your point in this map, correct? So, I am hoping, that this map is least playable, and offer good base spots, and good areas to fight. Need to test in real game, though.

The Skystation
Good theme :) And yeah, there is this "minor" thing about leaking lights from beneath walls. In proper map, these SHOULD not appear. Also, I think your textures need more working, they look ugly. Idea set is ok, but it still needs more weaving and shaving. For playability, I don't want this to turn into MD jettard camp fest (I did only quick check of map) and ruin this map. Anyway, I need to play this on real server.

I hope my short, straight and honest feelings about map is ok. Afterall, you needed some constructive criticism, right? =)
