24 Hour map round 2!

the release is aimed @ 9:00 PM tomorrow(dec. 11)

I'm doing the same concept for a map, but i have a few things that are different.


1. no complex algorithms, so my map wont bug out
2. im detailing and texturing as i go
3. i have a itunes playlist to reduce the time i spend browsing music (bad habit)
4. i have already set up a texture list to go with

so this map was started exactly at 9:00 PM mountain time on December 10th, wish me luck!


current progress is okay, I'm starting on the hallways where the alien base is... so far so good!

Wish you luck! I hope it gonna be released before deadline!

UPD: I have not slept for two days, but if you need help... Right now I am trying modelling programs. So if you need some models - i can try make them. Im not pro in modelling (actually my last real experience was in 3DS for DOS), but i can try anyway. Costs nothing for me, just traning. And in any case you decide - include in map those models or not.

i actually would like a large red siren light, for there will be a dynamic light system in the roof i plan to add

i'm gonna attempt to make this map symmetrical

I will leave it empty inside, so you can put there small rotating brush and animate as you wish. =)

I've just seen this right now, and seriously, even in a week I can't map that much. Doesn't matter if you didn't manage it within the 1-day-limit. Just keep it up please :).

Oh, and as you mentioned the siren. I also wanted to make something like that for a map, with a rotating red "light brush" around it (similar to those in the vents at tremor). Maybe something like that could look kinda awesome.

internet and computer issues, i recovered the map from my burnt out rig, and im building a computer so i wont be doing speedmapping anymore, but this map is about 75% done, so as soon as i have the chance to i will finish!

Nice to hear it! May be i gonna try speedmapping too. Not like '24h map', but i have simple idea like atcs/utcs and wanna try my skills in 'fast map making for future improvements/detailing'. But i still have no idea about h/a bases. When i got idea i will start timer and mapping a bit. Just wanna check how many time will take such attempt.
In any case i hope u will release ur map. Obviously from screenshots it at more difficulty level than most last maps, so u have to release it!

PS Dunno why, but i discovered 2nd problem with mapping for me (1st one is 'idk how make amazing h/a bases'). My next problem is 'i wanna make fully playable and high detailed map before release it'. Ye i know that detail level of my maps above average and i should finish them (i have six 60-80% done maps right now), but... i still not satisfied with those maps and cant release. That so fkn boring, cant do anything with myself. (

It is not a lack of skill or ideas. The fact that the maps does not satisfy me. But in any case, thanks for the offer of help. =)

UPD: btw... i'd like to make map with someone. I have mapping skills, patience... Just dont see any real way how to do it. Only if someone gonna say 'hey, take this sketches and map layout. This textures too... can you make map from it?' or something. Dont see any other way how to do it. Or i can help YOU with ur map. Some models, opinions, etc... mm? =D
