big bosses i have some trouble

On alien's wrath server, there's a welcoming message "protect your name today" or something like that, and then there's a little obscure address. I downloaded new .exe from there, but then i got suspicious. It would be very easy to fool noobs like me to download it, and if it was a spyware/trojan, i see unlimited possibilities. Any comments?

You're right to be suspicious, but I think Alien's Wrath is an honest server.

You should probably ask what it's for on their server, it might not even be worth installing.

I'm also presuming you've already run scans on it?

I'd try it myself, but I'm running Linux.

if it has tjw in it i forget the url ihats probably his exe that will give u a guid helps a bit with protecting ur name and such...

Well, if you say so. That server looked to be pretty good and honest, but that's why i started to think abt it. This may sounds silly but safety is priority.

I suggest not accept any .exe, except is expected.  
Even if people is honest, virus obviusly can steal the identity of other people, and fake "Hello, see this photo, is cool!.. pamela.jpg.exe" from your honest friend.
NEVER EVER execute something that is push to you from a random website/server.  

Of course, you can request info to the admin of this server. And If you trush this people, run the file. But the trust needed to run something alike needs to be HUGE. I doubt is a good idea: delete it now.

The files are on the TJW server.
TJW is a server admin residing on these forums aswell..
I see no reason to be suspicious.

the TJW binarys are clean, but you should still scan them, his server could have been infected, or any one of the computers it will pass on its way to you.

You allways act like the goody 2 shoe but turn around offending the regulars and start name calling.

There never was a kick reason like the one you stated.
You have been warned over and over again but we are not so dumb that we are allways fooled by a fresh name when you reconnect.

If you have trouble with one of our members / Players go to our board or use PM. 'nough said.

The reason we encourage the use of TJW's is that it generates a unique ID for the Player with which we can make sure that nick-lamer have no chance with us.
But TJW's work is much more than that, check it out:

@David, while it is generally a good idea to scan for virii (Please don't install MC-Affee for that, it's no good & dangerous) I strongly doubt that anyone would go all the way to do a MIM while the files are being downloaded .)

I mirrored his files, but I thought people might get suspicious ;) so I put the original download site from TJW in that Motd of ours.

@Aninhumer: There is a linux binary as well :) and the source of course!

@Thorn: Suddenly you connect without TJW's binary... of course you cannot choose that precious nick of yours, since you wanted it protected too one day. And what happens? "Hey give me my name back you idiot!" yeah, right... just an example...

I'm not very happy with this... Thorn seemed a nice guy at first, but he's become very offencive the last few days.

I don't know wether i should quit the mdc clan or not...

For what i know, Thorn wasn't an asshole yesterday for sure.
He bitched a bit about how his skill was lacking atm, but in a funny way :D
