I find that they help a lot on topics with lots of posts - and you're too lazy to hit the End and Home keys ;)

Thumbs up for useful additions to conversation all around!
Good of you to contribute in similarly useful fashion...  ::)

I tend to grab scrollbars myself, can't say i've really focussed on the links long enough to consider using them, maybe a graphic with larger text and an arrow would make them more obvious, and i feel that changing the text to something like "Go to top" and "Go to bottom" might make their function a little clearer too, but still, they're nice to have.

I use the scroll wheel unless it's a massively awesome quote pyramid, in which case I drag the bar.

oshoot, I just realized that I drag the bar even on normal pages too.

wait, it seems like I drag the scroll bar 46.3% of the time and use the scroll wheel the rest of the time.

on further inspection the quadralative equivalative biofredications are more natural on a superquasinova quangin.

It'd be trivial to rename these Home and End.  ;D

My mouse has a scroll wheel.

So does mine, and I hate having to scroll down to the end of pages!  >:(

I could grab the scrollbar and drag it down to the end of the page, or middle click and scroll down that way, but meh. I like clicking the linky which will take me there :)

Can end be made to permanently end the forums in a massive ball of flame?

Well i think that goes without saying.

Ah, i'm making you people lose faith in your scrollwheels, good, good.

Windows (and Mac I think) users can simply click and drag with the middle mouse button. Dunno why would ever scroll for longass pages. >.>
And using the sidebar always leads to it jumping back to the top whenever I overshoot at the bottom. Always pisses me off. :<

I believe this is more browser specific than platform specific, it just isn't always on by default(for middle-click paste reasons?), if you're using firefox on linux and want this kind of behaviour you'll need to head to about:config and set general.autoScroll to true, or at least that's what worked for me just now. I'm not sure what the situation is with chrome, the current build of chromium on here doesn't appear to support it.

I wonder if that's related to this feature: http://www.osnews.com/story/22601/Windows_Scrolling_Behaviour_Really_Really_Annoying

Pretty much this. It never worked whenever I used Linux, and I usually didn't have the time/patience to look for a solution.
