Problem with installing Trem 1.1.0 to Ubuntu 10.10: No write permission to /usr/local/games Anyone help me on this please? I can't change the folder permissions because I'm not the owner of it.

install to your home directory, better still get the zip and unzip it to your home directory(then get the gpp package because 1.1's no fun), or, if you must install systemwide, 'sudo ./installerfilename', you could even just 'sudo apt-get install tremulous' but you're bound to run into so many problems if you ever want an updated client or GPP that it's not worth it.

Then that might be a subtle hint that you do not have permissions to install it there!

If you can become the owner (root) in any way (either su or sudo) then do so and you can install there. Don't try apt-get for this, just don't. If you cannot, then you have no choice but to install to somewhere in your home directory, such as /home/<username>/tremulous.
