Brindus Mod Rotation Server
« on: March 18, 2011, 08:53:53 pm »
    Brindus Mod Rotation

    This server hosts gameplay-changing mods, especially smaller ones. If you have such a mod, inform me of it and I'll see about putting it on the server sometime. Mods will rotate somewhere between weekly and monthly, or whenever I feel like it. If you have a complaint with the administration of the server, or wish to make a ban appeal, please PM me here on the forums and it will be dealt with promptly. Future mods will likely include build point queue slowdown, buildable (turret etc.) range spheres (if implemented in readable source), and other small balance modifications (such as dretch hp increase), in addition to whatever suggestions I receive. If you suggest a mod, please provide the source code.

    Tremstats for the server can be found at: http://modrotation.mercenariesguild.net/stats/index.php

    Current Mod:

    • AMP, blackout-b1-gpp is available to be played and on the rotation.
    • basilisk ranges averaged
    • goon pounce weakened (0.75 of GPP)
    • goon chomp is faster (900->825, 800 -> 750)
    • DC heal rate 4->6
    • Mobilejetpack
    • gimhael's Power rings
    [/list]

    Thanks all, and have fun!

    Don't forget to mention that the server's hosted by MG, so you'll get identical pings to US Main. Unlike, say, some of these home-hosted servers that give you pings in the hundreds.

    Was thinking to make ideally similar server in future. And now needed test server is open. Thanks! :laugh:

    Currently I got ideas what I would like to see in server (And I don't got experience in coding, otherwise I would have made them already to use. Sorry. :-\):

    • Swapping Rifle to Shotgun
    • Dretch HP increase +5 or +10

    Once people are trained with shotgun (and if it is swapped for rifle, they soon will be), dretches will find it even harder to get kills than with rifle.

    I agree. I've said numerous times on other servers that the dretch is extremely underpowered. Try this:

    -MD becomes available at hs2
    -Dretches have increased hp (make it either 30 or 35)

    I agree with the first one, and the second one makes sense now that I think about it. Getting out of an encounter with 5hp doesn't happen a lot.

    ok, can you give me the tool thingy app that can code?

    What about MD damage being reduced? Keep the MD at s1, but then either increase the shot cooldown or decrease the damage. Somewhere between 20-35/shot, maybe?

    The Mass Driver drives mass. You can't reduce the damage of something like that.

    Human Operations decided to use smaller pellets, for more ammo and less firing speed.

    It's actually extremely fun. Instead of slowly moving around and keeping you flying forever, the jetpack now moves really fast, is hard to maneuver, and has limited fuel that regenerates whenever you don't use it.

    Me and F50 came up with a silly game earlier where we both had jetpacks and mass drivers and tried to shoot each other down into an acid pool while jetpacking from obstacle to obstacle.

    It's a private server and they own it, if they want to practise in private, that's their right.

    Yeah, I wish there were more players around brindus as well :). In the future I'll set it up properly, so that the server is password-protected under such situations.

    Normally its open for play, however. Also, at that particular time you couldn't test the mod rotation anyways, since it was set to run in pure GPP mode (as the MOTD told you).

    Sorry for the inconvenience, but there was no one playing the mod at that time.

    Brindus has been updated with the community sounds from the tremulous sound SVN repository.

    Probably due to the large file size, it may be problematic to download in-game. The file can also be downloaded from: http://modrotation.mercenariesguild.net/downloads/base/zzz-sounds-alpha2.pk3

    I think people generally have agreed on what absolutely needs to be replaced from this little experiment, but that should be discussed in another thread.

    Try deleting any temporary files (anything that looks like zzz-sounds-alpha2.pk3), and then downloading the file using a browser (see my last post) and manually putting that in your brindus/ folder. I have no clue what is going on though.
