Dont forget to mark the thread [solved] if you overcame your problem.
I have retired from Tremulous. Definetely. If you play a game just because it has become a habit, but u'r only feeling like a kindergarten teacher - well, maybe I am just getting too old (hell, I was a teenager when DukeNukem3D was *new*) - it's probably not a bad idea to just let it be. And I do.

Don't take this personally. Have fun, guys.

thank you zybork, but i did look at both of the links and i could not fix the problem. (i build computers, i am not a total der when it comes to computers but i just dont know what to do)
- I am running vista, located the tremulous folder in appdata, tried to edit the autogen.cfg file. did not work. (also keep in mind the file was not in the "base" folder but in the gpp folder) I deleted it, still no success. I tried going to the file properties and add the line that is suppose to make it open in a small windowed mode, didnt work. in vista, there is a check box that does the same thing, still no success. i deleted the appdata folder, and everything i could find of tremulous. reinstalled (did not re download) ...still no sucess. Any help? thanks guys

Hm… you removed the system-wide configuration, I take it, but did you also remove/clear up the user-specific configuration?

would you mind going into a little detail about the user specific config, not sure where or what that is to be honest

Pew, you ask me too much, I honestly don't know, for I don't have Windows. This is what “Google” told me:

Quote
For example, if your user is called "George" and you installed Windows Vista on the "C:" drive, your personal files and folders will be stored by default in "C:\Users\George\".

I just fired up a virtual machine I have with Windows7 on it which confirms that, however, it may be that only files and not configurations are in there, in earlier Windows versions it was something like Documents and Settings or something, I suggest that you simply search for autogen.cfg somewhere on your harddrive, if you shouldn't find it.

Or maybe another Windows user can help you here.

Well, what have you tried after modifying that file? and how have you modified it, looked through and removed/altered the sections that specify the width and height?

Hello jteague1, Put this in your autogen.cfg file.
r_mode -1
r_customwidth x
r_customheight x
Put in your screen resolution instead of x.
if its gpp autogen.cfg will be in: Appdata/Roaming/Tremulous/base/gpp/autogen.cfg

Make sure you paste it at the bottom, because it runs each command down in sequential order.  Also, if all else fails just delete autogen.cfg and tremulous.exe will make a new one.

the thing is....i have deleted it. from the  C:user/me/appdata/roaming/tremulous/gpp     and that is the only one i could find. makes me think it is my graphics...but  i ran the program before i enlarged the screen....and also i can run the game play preview no problems. i checked my drivers, they are up to date.

ok the only thing i can think of in this situation is-
First, Uninstall your trem 1.1 and gpp.
Second, Delete all trem files and folders.
Third, go to run and type regedit then click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click on Software folder and Find tremulous folder and Delete it. Now reinstall trem, I think it will fix it.

First of all, ignore the previous post. You don't have to uninstall Tremulous or tinker with the registry files unlike what Myselfnavi said.

You say the gameplay preview works fine which means you have solved the problem. 1.1 stores user settings in a completely different folder, C:user/me/appdata/roaming/tremulous/base. If you want to get 1.1 working you need to delete the autogen.cfg stored in that folder.

No. He mentioned deleting the autogen.cfg from the gpp folder, which fixed his screen resolution in gpp. He needs to delete the autogen.cfg from the base folder, which will fix his screen resolution in 1.1.

i thought he had problem with both 1.1 and gpp because he said he deleted autogen.cfg file in gpp and i said he tried deleting autogen.cfg, but he couldn't find autogen in base folder that you just mentioned.

I believe he tried looking for it in tremulous/base, not appdata/tremulous/base. Though we are left for him to respond if the problem is solved now.

GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
@other posts: too long didn't read
@ Jteague1: Here's my simple solution: Re-install or install if you don't have one; a openGL software. Once, i installed trem on my computer and it couldn't run, and im like wtf and i found the solution: windows never came with openGL.

@world: Couldn't be bothered to read anything or understand the problem, just wanted to make some noise.
*noise*
Someone came into IRC with a problem just like this one the other day, i can't quite remember the name but i have a feeling it was the OP, we dealt with the issue by having him start trem windowed(by adding +set r_fullscreen "0" to his trem shortcut), after which he could switch to a valid resolution before going back to fullscreen.
