It's racism that causes people to view members of other abstract groups as inferior to members of their own abstract group; it is ignorance and the proper conditioning that causes racism.

I'm not surprised that not many females play Tremulous on a regular basis. Personally I believe that most females will see Tremulous as being yet another first person shooter game that is all about fast action and male testerone. Most girls I know seems to prefer games like sim or any games that are big on the social aspects of games.

I probably shouldn't revive this thread, but there seems to be some misconceptions on girls gaming.  When I bring my server up, it is usually all girls that play on it.  I have a daughter that likes to game with her friends.  There are 6-8 of them that play.  It used to be Quake3 and UT2004, but they seem to enjoy Tremluous more these days as being aliens is more to their liking than toting guns.  It used to be an occasional LAN party, but slowly has become more and more internet play.

They don't like playing with foul-mouthed, rude little jerks which is for the most part what is found on public servers today.  That is why they play on their own server. It has nothing to do with racism, or being sexist.  It has everything to do with common decency and a little maturity which is really lacking in this game community.

This is not meant to be a rant, but a bit of an explanation why you don't see too many girls gaming on your servers.  Some girls like FPS, just not the players.  (Xonya and a few others may have different opinions, but...)

That got me thinking about a lot of things. They want to get treated like equals but they expect the usual crap (ladies first, and all that other bullshit).

In one of the MMORPGs that I play, you would be sickened by the amount of guys that try to pick me up when I use my female character.  I'm not a girl, so the experiences can vary from being scary to funny to just plain sad.

It is not the cussing that is immature (just not appreciated), but playing with a name like "Your Mother's Cu**".  I mean com'on.  How immature and rude.  There was even an admin on the server at the time that did nothing about it.  (And some wonder why there are few/no girl players.)

The funniest thing I heard was on a list of the top 26 things girls want guys to do:

One was to act cute when the girl hits them even if it really hurt

it's bullshit, if they hit me and it hurts, I should be able to hit them back( of course, apparently thats domestic abuse)

It's not like women have done anything to earn equal rights, I mean god all they do is reproduce the human race, when a women invents something as breakthrough as the wheel, maybe we'll talk.

I will encourage the girls to give it a try on their next session.  If you see Pink Lady, Black Widow, ZMonster, CryLady, Blondie and Thong playing together (or a combination thereof), then I think you will get the idea.  Besides, I'm tired of playing the "Oldies" against the "Goldies" (most are blonde).
