Sure Gloom is not as flashy as newer games but for sheer gameplay and fun, i can tell you nothing quite comes close. Maybe it seems odd to plug the game so shamelessly, but it's a crime that such a beautiful game is dying simply because people don't know about it, or aren't willing to give an old game a chance... just my 2 cents.

I look like a younger version of Tremulant but with less crazy hair. I don't think that's very conducive to what you have in mind.

Gloom was a fun game over a decade ago. It was never balanced in any way but it had some very overpowered classes that were fun to use. Like kamikazes that explode and destroy the whole human base even far away or heavy trooper that shoots rockets that have huge splash radius and kill anything in one hit.

One of the best memories I have is me abusing the heavy trooper so much that the developers nerfed it. I just shot the floor under my feet with rocket launcher killing myself and two aliens getting the needed 2 points to get another heavy trooper and I repeated that until the alien team had nothing but the weakest classes left and then attacked their base in the same manner standing next to an egg, shooting and killing myself and the defenders. Of course I could have just shot the aliens and survived myself but that wasn't as fun. I'm not sure how no one else realized how overpowered some of the classes were.

The current version has deteriorated badly. Since 1.3 kamikaze and especially ht were weakened to uselessness. Without the overpowered classes the games almost never end. In addition to that if you thought egg spam was bad in trem 1.1 in gloom it's ridiculous, especially on the gigantic custom maps all servers run. Also people love to play the same map whole day always voting 45 min extra time when the map time is about to run out. Despite all this gloom is still worth checking out if you want to see what tremulous is based on but nothing more.
