Planned Official EU1 Server Move
« on: April 10, 2011, 09:15:03 pm »
Official EU1 will be moving sometime this week. It should have about 1 day's downtime, but possibly a bit more. I'll post more specific info when it becomes available. Yes, this means people will need to be setleveled again.

Thank you as always to Napkin, Fleurka, and the rest of the wraths crew for their generous hosting of the server.

Why not just copypaste the admin.dat from US Main to EU Main? Or is it not that easy?

Oh. Well then.

Comparatively few people play EU Main, so I doubt there's a lot of setleveling to be done anyway.

Kharnov, this depends on where you live/at which times you play the game. Mind that those are just personal impressions, but I always had the feeling that there was a kind of a “US-shift” and an “EU-shift”, depending on which people are awake at the time. EU1 is imo well populated.
I have retired from Tremulous. Definetely. If you play a game just because it has become a habit, but u'r only feeling like a kindergarten teacher - well, maybe I am just getting too old (hell, I was a teenager when DukeNukem3D was *new*) - it's probably not a bad idea to just let it be. And I do.

Don't take this personally. Have fun, guys.

Weird, no matter when I try checking the server (noon, afternoon, evening, night, weekends, weekdays..) but it's very seldom any people on it.

Your feeling is not correct. EU and US had 50/50 players in the first five phases. For whatever reason the server population took a major hit in Phase 6, and hasn't quite recovered during Phase 7. I find it quite disappointing.

EU does seem to be runner up but it's not been so bad recently. A fair amount of times it's been the EU server that's been populated with the US server empty.

What it really comes down to is which server is already populated when the number of players online is increasing. This is more likely to be the US server because people expect people to join the US server. It's a self perpetuating habit.

The server is back up, running at 46.4.68.89 and 2a01:4f8:140:3041::3:2. As of right now, officialeu1.tremulous.net still points to the old address and it doesn't have a star in the server list, but those should be updated soon.

Thats what we need, helpful players, not more powerful admins.

Star in the server list is updated now. DNS will follow when somebody that controls that wakes up, and then it propagates :)

Timbo updated the DNS now, so it will work for you as it propagates to your local DNS servers.

how to use a server with dynamic ip and moderately safer GUIDs like when you use cl_guidserveruniq?
