Couldn't find a spawn point
« on: June 22, 2011, 10:30:14 am »
[I'm French, please be indulgent :) ]

Hello,

As the title suggests, when I compile my map, I received a beautiful "Couldn't find a spawn point" after loading it. I did a lot of research and I completed my map:

- I put the info_player_intermission
- I put the info_alien_intermission
- I put the info_human_inermission
- I have two eggs and two telenodes

Yet I still have the error that appears ... I even tried q3map2Build, same result ...

thank you in advance

Tu as tous les choses nescesaire pour fonctionner, mais tes structures doivent flotter comme 5 carres du plafond.
Regarde si tu as deux ou plus des info_*_intermissiones. Ca peut etre la probleme.
these are stupid suggestions, don't even waste our time.
I don't like your negative attitude.

You better speak English, I pretty good at it, but not perfectly as you ;)

I've got only one of each info_*_intermission, and I moved them up from 5 squares to the ground. The room is 11 square heigh, it's just perfect, 5 squares to the ground, 5 squares to the "sky"

but still have errors...

I think your room is way to small from how you're talking.
The default grid size is rather small compared to players.
Like the egg model you see is the egg before it grew.

So try making it bigger?

I tell the truth, this room is as bigger as the central room of ATCS

Hey petitkoalak, I downloaded your .map to see what the problem was. You've got everything that you need, so I decided to try raising the spawns and compiling, just to test it out. It worked. All you need to do is lift up the egg and the telenode a few more units. I generally place them 16 above the ground, just to be super safe. Some people do 8. Sometimes it's trial and error. Your map looks interesting, good luck. :) Also, you only need info_player_intermission. Alien and human intermissions are optional (I hope cecil didn't say that. I know that he said to put your spawns 5 units above the ground, but beyond that my french is pretty rusty.)

Hey,

Thank you for your answer, but I successed in an other way : I just import the new in the square map, I erased the square one, it worked... don't know why... The nodes are in the same position ...

Before, I tried move the spawn super high, it didn't work. I don't know why is working ^^

If I finish i'll present it here ;)

Thanks everyone :)

PS Does someone know how put a default light, because it's really dark in there

Gotcha ! I called my map : "map.map" , it doesn' like it "square.map" works or "test.map" works fine ;)

Ah yeah, I should have mentioned that compiling "map.map" didn't even let me load it.

For those who were wondering what I said in french, here it is translated.

You have everything you need to work, but your structures have to be floating 5 squares off the ground.
look if you have 2 or more info_8_intermissions. That could be the problem.

And @Plague, I don't know why I didn't say you don't need the A/H intermissions.
these are stupid suggestions, don't even waste our time.

You actually said the structures should be
floating like 5 squares from the ceiling
And you included many grammatical errors  :(

I translated it directly from french. It's not that my english grammar is bad, its just that my french grammar is bad.
Re-translated:
You included everything nescisary in your map for it to work. A possible problem is that your structures are not floating about 5 tiles from the ground.
Also look if you have 2 or more player_*_intermissions. That could be your problem.

i compiled that map [downloaded @ 2010-06-28 19:10:00+02:00] (without renaming) into a .bsp file, and loaded the .bsp file without problems.
my speculation is that u either forgot to recompile the map, or forgot to put the .bsp file in a .pk3 file while having sv_pure set to 1.
