Can't import a model in GTKradiant
« on: June 23, 2011, 02:27:40 pm »
Hello everyone !

I tried to import by misc_model a tyrant :tyrant: as a statue ^^ and I don't get anything, nothing appears and i don't have any errors ... The .md3 file is in the data folder. That doesn't work neither with misc_animate_model...

how can I import it ?

Thanks for your answers ;)

import model to blender
delete all frames except the one you need
export to ase
check the textures
import to radiant

Hey,

I just want to import the tremulous' models (from data.pk3) : like turrets or  tyrants or dragoons, anyway, just import them to fake them : It would be pretty scary to have a tyrant in front of you at stage 1 doesn't it ?

So please, help me and please me with details how i can import tremulous' models...

Thanks

1) install the md3 importer/exporter and ASE exporter for blender
2) locate the models and textures you want to use in the data.pk3 and unpack them
3) for multipart(like turret) models you need to assembly it back in blender so import all the parts
4) some models will have vertex animations so lock the animation key to the pose you want
5) load the textures manually if they are not loaded
6) export ASE

7) import ASE to radiant
---------------------
I didn't test it. I was using a different method
1) 2) 3) same
4') delete unused animation frames from the model
5'.1) remove duplicate vertexes
5'.2) load textures
6') export md3

7) import md3 to radiant
-----------------------

But you might be able to import those directly
check your radiant options/paths/configuration

IIRC textures and multipart models might not load as you expected
animated model is excluded from lighting stage
with static model you may not be able to use the frame you want

I can't do it, I think I don't know blender enough...

There is no other way to do it ?

I tried the two last ways, and I got (in the console of entities (N)) : Model load failed: "C:/Users/petitkoalak/Desktop/tyrant.md3"

I'm sure the md3 is good, but don't know why it doesnt works...

something to do with paths
you don't need to know blender just some basics
I know it is frustrating but I have no other idea
first try to import some simple model to your map. something like:
http://www.katsbits.com/download/models/ww2-british-watercans.php

BTW I found a blog about ASE vs md3 http://sgq3-mapping.blogspot.com/2008/12/static-models-or-mapobject.html

Im pretty sure for a tyrant model, You should set the model key in the misc_model "models/players/level4/nonseg.md3". That will get you the model, however it will be untextured, so Make another .pk3 with ONLY the model and skin. Not the .skin, the skin picture. Then put that in.
these are stupid suggestions, don't even waste our time.
I don't like your negative attitude.
