Nodraw, caulk, or Fullclip?
« on: October 03, 2011, 09:09:05 pm »
Allright, so in my newest and best map, Gomeisa, I seem to have a bit of trouble.
For the glass brushes (and metal grid), what texture do I use on the faces that are not directly visible to prevent texture overlap (fighting brushes)? Is it Nodraw (which is my guess), Caulk, or Fullclip?

Thanks

Common texture that is not visible.

All those you mention should work fine (at least they work for me).

common/nodraw. Not sure if that would work for water, but there is karith/water_nodraw

Ok, so Nodraw is my answer, but which one reduces lag the most, reduces build time, and reduces file size?

My personal preference is to have every non-visible side of a glass/grate brush is set to the 'clip' texture. As for water I use 'caulk'.

just wondering, how do you make a 'ring' of water without the 'edges' of the water visible? (the edges are shown even though the water is overlapping each other or touching each other

Don't have any seams.

Yeah, thats what i was talking about. But i can still see the 'edges of the water surface' moving in the water on a 90° angle.

Sometimes it works with glass, sometimes it doesn't. When it works with glass, it is often the other side of the glass appears to be a void of some kinda anyways, so that 'I works!' part is probably just a glitch i made.
