My First Map, Map1POSHuntingBeta1

I decided to take a day or so to make a map, Would be awesome to see it up on the servers somewhere. Im very open to suggestions and advice and if you want the .map file just email me @ Botslayer@ymail.com

Look around, you'll might be surprised on what you find ^^

I have lots of time on my hands so if you have any map ideas PM me or just email me and i will try to get to it as soon as possible.
If any map makers want to give me and special tips that would also be nice, I am still very new to Gtk Radiant.

Giant rooms, huge stretched textures, long open hallways, questionable layout, moving though the right half of the "movie poster?" brings you to the huge movie room, Technicolor lighting and weird doors.

I would still encourage you to continue mapping, but this is not the level of quality players would like to play.

For your next map, try putting gameplay on the first place and detail later.
Also, you might want to read the Releasing your maps sticky.

alright, yeah someone modified my lighting to be "presentable" the point of the poster is more of a "hidden access" if the textures are missing try making sure you have all the default maps? Once again this was just a first map ^^ just a test to throw out to see what kind of things people want. also.... i know you didnt find all the traps :P
I will return lights to a normal white and just dim them in some places, and also shooting some things makes them move.... (wall parts and floor parts)
If i could get an idea of the kind of map people want this would probably turn out much better hahaha, im going to post my alien homeland map hopefully tomorrow... couldnt help but notice a lot of maps are raiding a human construct or homeland.
My textures are stretched just because i thought it would look better, but i guess in this case i shouldnt?

Remember I based this map off of what people asked for. Its only a Beta 1  :laugh: Thanks for the feedback

Alright getting my screenshots, i might clip the rooms down just a little, possibly add a room in the middle of the strangly long hall, adding .map file to the next .pk3, lights set to normal colors (mostly), lights dimmed, hope to create a world map texture for walls in a "Guide Room" (with traps shown)  ;) if i missed anything or you want to suggest something just ask or PM ^^

No offense, but overall this map is far from ready for release.
Everything needs a lot of work.
- Lighting; Way too dark, also coloured lighting is nice but don't over do it.
- Detailing; You haven't even begun to do this.
No detail;

Some detail (Note it could easily look far better than this (I spent about 60s on it));


- Texturing; Strange choices (Couldn't distinguish doors from wall etc), bad alignment, bad texture scales (Resulting in stretching etc).
- Scale; Everything is excessively large and open, making this map easy for humans to dominate on. Try using the OM/RC as a reference.
- Brushwork; Very poorly done (see attached images)

Other notes;
- Map name, change it. It is its too long and hard to remember.
- Add a Levelshot.
- Give the spectator a way out of that room (without having to wait for someone to activate that elevator).
- Having to shoot a door to open it is undesirable in my opinion.
- Teleporters don't look like teleporters, use a custom shader or something.
- Readme text; Actually name it 'ReadMe.txt' or 'M1PORHunting_Read_Me.txt' and it should be located in the root of the pk3.

I made my corners and map parts the way I did for a reason, the shooting doors are mostly for people to find on their own, these textures are all temporary because I am building my own atm, spactators can escape by following players, I haven't added my custom sounds and images yet so I'm not worrying to much about detail, just looking for overall map layout and name suggestions as you may notice this is only a temporary map and I have added a slightly better version. I plan to cut the large room with certain elements such as ship parts and meteor fragments and chunks, I would love more suggestions and the humans now have a push pad into the spectator zone which gives them a way out ^_^.

This map is just a first attempt and I expected much worse ( it is supposed to be dark at places). My next map is hopefully going to be a masterpeice and I will make sure to do it right, of anyone wants to help with extinction that would be awesome ^_^ I see so many human outpost maps and aliens raiding human lands that I decided to make a map raiding the alien home planet, pm me for details of you wish to know more.

No offence, but no one is going to play your large-ass maps.
People like atcs for a reason: small, simple and easy to find your way around. We need mroe maps like that.
