Before I go into depth about what I am about to say now, I need to explain something. I am a simple law abiding player who believes the rules are placed in the game for the benifit of all and preventing the game from degenerating into mindless chaos. With this mindset, one may be suprised to find out that I do indeed have a life ban on |SST| TREMULOUS, what would be considered the main server.
It was my very few first hours of downloading the game that I realised that this game, although been fantastically invovative and cleverly bringing out the feel of Aliens, that I came to the game with an insufficent ammount of knowledge. I was asking questions, and creating solutions for them when I received scornful responses due to my lack of knowledge.
The battle on Advanced Combat Simulator had continued well past the 30 minute mark and the human base had become deeply congested with turrets and tesla generators, it was on the brink of fall. After dying multiple times to Tyrant raids, I was confused on how to combat the immensly powerful units as it seemed no one on the 34 player server was willing to tell me.
I realised that a grenade was possibly the one thing that could stop a pack of them in their tracks, so I simply loaded out with a grenade and a rifle on a mad cap suicide rush to hopefully reduce the number of tyrants that were mauling our base consistantly.
As the Tyrants swarmed in through the main entrance, I pressed the enter button that would be the end of my character and my playing of the game. For a few fleeting seconds nothing happened, suddenly the chat menu exploded with reports for teamkills and destroyed structures.
In the last 4 seconds of playing the game, all I had to time to type was "Oh shit" before the ominous message of lifetime ban from administrator DHRUVINATOR {SpIKeRS}.
A boot would have been too soft, so would a 1 day ban, but a life time ban, for a stupid mistake a new player made in an attempt to solve a problem that no one would inform him over? Too far, most certainly.
I really was just as suprised by the explosion as my fellow teamates, and I am honestly regretting I did it.
What can I tell my friends, who wanted for me to find out if the game was good enough for a social game together, about this game? "Great game hindered by zealous moderators?"
What do you think?
